JoeSwin
Hi, Just gone for a drive and my clutch pedal sounds like the door of a haunted house. Ideal for Halloween but not for changing gears. Has anyone else has this before, and where is it likely coming from? Just needinh a bit of lube somewhere? Thanks
Mikevv
Coming along for an answer, mine has started doing it slightly, figured as long as the gear changes are good and smooth I shouldnt worry too much
JoeSwin
Sounds is more pedal mechanism rather than clutch. I think it's just a dry joint, just hoping someone else has previously solved and knows where best to start
evest
Not had it mate but best place to start has gotta be lubing the pedal hinges
JoeSwin
Will do tomorrow. Seems like it's the other side of the firewall though

evilscorp
On early de engine it will be the slave cylinder on the outside of the gearbox, pull the rubber back and stick in some grease.
evilscorp
The newer gearboxes however have the slave in built so unlikely they will squeak. 10x worse if you have bonnet vents as water runs down the top of the engine / gearbox and onto the slave cylinder. =/
JoeSwin
I'm going to investigate tonight and see if I can stop it with some WD40 to find the issue and then go back in wth proper grease
Spoons
I'm going to investigate tonight and see if I can stop it with some WD40 to find the issue and then go back in wth proper grease Hi pal, I wouldn't use WD40 on the clutch pedal joints if I was you. Try a lithium spray grease if you suspect a dry joint. WD40 dissolves grease and will quickly dry up with the heater venting in the footwell and with the amount of use the pedal gets. Just to Confirm is it definitely a squeak with no notchiness. I only ask as I had to make a clutch pedal box repair on mine and it's a bitch of a job but 10 thousand miles on still sweet. I keep meaning to put the fix up on here. it was a full pedal assembly removal job.The pedal has an assistance spring and mini shock, these have a few pins and pivot points to check for dry points. Then there is the main pedal pivot bolt high up under the steering column and the master cylider pushrod. Hope your flexible it's an upside down in the footwell job I'm afraid. Hope this helps. Adam B
Had same problem on mine, gets worse the more you drive it. As stated above It was the slave cylinder, return spring had snapped inside. New cylinder, fresh fluid and a bleed, job done. Its not a squeaking gate hinge, I would not recommend wd40 either.
JoeSwin
Thanks. I used spray grease in the end. Was in the engine bay side of the firewall so didn't expect it to be pedal assembly. Seems to have done the job for now
JoeSwin
Was definitely a dry joint
