Strudul
Hey Car has developed a noise when the clutch is up (foot off the pedal). See video: Happens in any gear (inc neutral), but the noise disappears if I press the clutch or throttle. It's intermittent, mainly happening when I first start the car and going away after a bit of use. Earlier it actually made a worse noise when I pressed the clutch. Some brief Googling would suggest the clutch release bearing has gone, but was looking for a 2nd opinion or if anyone has any other ideas about what the cause could be. rothers2901
At best it could be the release bearing. worst case scenario it could be the springs on the duel mass. either way its the box off.

Cheers. Still under warranty and within 30 days of purchase, so I'm not too worried. Taking it in for the garage to have a look at on Thurs, just hoping to get an idea of what it could be. Strudul
So I left it with the dealer's service department this morning. They've come back and just said "clutch" and quoted ~£450 for the part and almost £900 including labour. Hopefully it should be covered under warranty, but that still sounds like a lot. Thing is, it's actually a Citroen dealership, so I'm not sure if they are a particularly good option. I guess if it doesn't cost me anything, it's fine, but I can't help but think I'd be better off going to an independent with more Nissan experience who might find a more specific fault and will probably do a better job? Might be worrying over nothing, but can't help thinking that all this money is gonna get spent, only for it to have been wrongly diagnosed... ZMANALEX
If you are going to have to pay then I would recommend that you get a few quotes from a few 350Z specialists. If your car is a VQ35DE then labour should be circa £200.00 and clutch and fly circa £625.00. The noise from the vid may be the front gearbox bearing. Aashenfox
That is a high quote, but who cares if its under warranty? If they won't honour it, then ebay is your friend. I just picked up a stock original exedy organic disc, pressure plate and bearing AND a lightweight flywheel all done for 367 squids. All brand new. I hope the flywheel is ok for 132 quid, looks just like all the others so I don't see why it wouldn't be.
