veilside z
The owner sees his car turn up at his work place, when it's supposed to be in for a service. I bet this isn't the first time this has ever happened. I'd be livid http://racecarthings.com/man-catches-auto-mechanics-driving-his-car-through-taco-bell/
Bandit
I put my Type R in for a service at Honda main dealer, I was told to pick it up at 5.00pm I turned up to find some spotty youth and his mate ragging it around their car park. After a severe word with the manager they just said they were testing the brakes. I could have tested by toe cap up his ass. Never went back.
Juggalo
I used to work for a Volvo Dealership. It was pretty common for the mechanics to take the cars for a joy ride. Never really an issue until they launched the T5 because the previous Volvos were @*!# slow boxes.

evest
The zed ain't exactly the easiest car to use at a drive-though, I can never reach the feckin' service window. Not that I frequently chow at McDonald's or anything...
rabbitstew
Happens all the time unfortunately. When I dropped my zed off to have some work at the local Nissan (I never took it back again), the mechanic promptly drove it into the workshop and sat there rev`ing the hell out of my engine in order to hear the full effect of the K1 exhaust I had on it. Unfortunately for him, he didnt realise I was waiting and watching through the workshop window. It was only when the Service Manager clocked me looking and looking very angry that he promptly shat himself and ran over and told the mechanic to stop it. The mechanic later then came out, cap in hand, and gave me a grovelling apology. My ex`s scumbag ex boyfriend used to work for Honda and he actually wrote off a customers Type-R on a "test drive". I even remember many years back my brother dropped his 205 Gti off to have some brake pads done at a local garage. He went to pick it up later and there was no sign of his car. He then heard the sound of a car being thrashed to 1 inch of its life down the local by pass, and hey presto it turned into the garage and he was his car. "just testing the new brakes" apparently. This is one reason why I now do all my mechanical work myself as I just dont trust anyone.
coldel
The reason why I thank my lucky stars that both my dad and my brother are both car mechanics...! I remember reading a story a couple of years ago how a driver in a modified Evo got pulled by the police, no insurance so they took the car off him and sent him packing. The police then jumped in and ragged it down a 30mph road and lost control wiping out an entire front garden wall and writing off the Evo. They never got charged for it funny enough though...as straight as the FA our police force haha.

Payco
Best one I ever heard was about 15 years ago when a guy parked his brand new jaguar with an underground parking valet company in London whilst he went away on business for two weeks. Came back and collected his car all polished and cleaned. Had it serviced at 6OOO miles 4 months later and the garage said the engine had over 100,000 miles on it. Turned out the garage swapped his engine out whilst he was away on business.
Bandit
How about this one: http://www.dailymail...uter-fault.html Are they having a laugh..Why was it 6 miles away from the dealership when it crashed..? Love the quote.. "The dealership claims the car, which boasts a six-litre engine and a top speed of 180mph, was being driven 'legally and sensibly' when it spun off the road in bad weather". Aashenfox
His insurance company will sue them anyway (Mercedes guy I mean). When I drop the car off, I always make sure they SEE me take pictures all around and of the dash and tell them no test drive without me. So far so good, and I've owned over 30 cars in 20 years. Bandit
I know of a mate who took his 911 in to have an aftermarket exhaust fitted and they managed to set fire to his car and the workshop while brazing or welding it. Took over 9 months to get any compensation.

A mate of mine was a mechanic in central Bristol when the Sierra Cossie was launched ,when the first one came in for a service each mechanic enjoyed a joyride in it thrashing it around until some spilt oil caused a minor engine fire this was quickly put out and the engine bay jetwashed to leave no sign , unfortunately for the customer when he collected the car he switched the blowers on and got a face full of dry powder that had filled the vents , the resulting shock caused him to crash into a parked car.

GMballistic
Unfortunately this sort of sh*t happens all the time. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tQ6hr4Jzdxk More here: https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=dash+cam+footage+of+garage+abusing+customers+car You really need a good dash cam to catch them at it or preferably some sort of "valet mode" for when you leave your car with a garage so that they can't go over a certain speed or the cars power is restricted via the ECU again restricting it's ability to go fast. Haha I know I'm trying to figure out how the dealership said that with a straight face! Its so obviously been ragged and who ever was driving didn't have enough talent and skill to keep it on the road.

Dropped off at Heathrow, guy picked it up, knew I was away for 3 days business. Came back and the little bugger goes really nice car, there are a few extra miles on it as had to do a drop off! I checked the mileage and it was 60 miles more than I left it. Sod had obviously had some fun in it. Complained, told same thing, we have to move the cars around. Needless to say I just park in the short stay and take my keys with me now. Work have to stump up the bill as I refuse to give my car to those purple parking prats. (In one way I don't blame them as if you get your hands on a nice car then there is temptation, but I have chosen to take the opportunity of that temptation away from them) Rant over. On the other hand, garages I use all seem to be quite good with not thrashing cars. Touch wood. Bandit
My old boss left his Merc at Gatwick valet parking for 2 weeks while he was on holls. Couldn't work out why he got 2 speeding tickets and several parking tickets, including a congestion charge notice in the post a few weeks later, also when he checked there was about 800 extra miles on it. Reported it to the old bill that he couldn't possibly have got speeding tickets as the car was at Gatwick for two weeks with receipt to prove it, they did investigate it and found the car was been used as a mini cab while he was away. He went ape..!
