Clutch questions!

Absolutely DREADING this question, but I have a feeling my clutch is starting to go, it's not slipping at all, but it makes a gurring noise (nothing painful, you can just feel if) when I use it first thing, only on cold mornings though, every other time it's fine?

 

I might also have to add in, after revving it in the tunnel at trax, I smelt burning, and when leaving trax, at a round about the car literally shook as I lifted it up to move forwards, almost as if there wasn't enough on the accelerator (which there was), but I haven't had this problem since?

 

I am not brilliant with cars so if there is something else I can look at before hand please let me know.

 

Don't need this after just blowing everything on my wrap! :(

I got the extreme clutch kit from clarks motorsports fitted in August, about £1100 all in, you can get cheaper, just letting u know a budget ;-).

Yeah that's the one I'd be choosing, just wondering whether that's the actual problem before delving in! But thanks for the idea of the budget, that was labour installation too? :)

The first bolded bit, this is the most common (if its what I'm thinking it is) first cold start, get between 5-10mph and get a nice 2secs gurrrr as you say ;p

Has done this every morning for about the last year.

 

Second bold, did you rev it with it in gear with clutch down or clutch neutral with clutch down?

When you "press" you are disengaging the mechanisms.

 

Whenever I go for exhaust noise in a tunnel, I drop to neutral take foot off clutch (coasting) then start revving.

Mine used to do exactly the same thing, juddering quite badly when moving off. I had the exedy clutch and flywheel fitted and it's now all good but I can still occassionally faintly feel it.

The mechanic I went too said he's driven loads of 370's and it's just what they normally do, but is the beggining of the flywheel on it's way out.

Hi olly.

Circa £1100, Yeah that's the De clutch kit and fitted and you get an xtreme sticker :-), I got mine fitted at infiniti Glasgow and even though they spent longer than originally expected to get it right (bleeding problems) they only charged initial costs £350 ish, Clarks was a great help also,

The cold start, started last winter and is fine on warm nights, starting again after being driven etc, so normal as in... it will just always happen ? And it's fine? And then fine once it's a little bit warm?

 

Second - I did have my clutch down as we were sort of rolling at the same time, I very rarely do it but that's a good shout from now on, the clutch didn't come back up at some point which is when it really scared me, but absolutely nothing since?

Re the shaking when trying to move off, are you sure that the brakes hadn't jammed on due to lots of heat?

Maybe, but it had been sat all day and cooled, and no heavy braking had taken place ? This was about a mile down the road after start off and sitting round all day, only happened about twice then it was fine ?

I've never before nor since had the problem again, and I was taking off in 2nd from a near standstill, but it wasn't a normal judder, I hope not :(

I wouldn't panic too much if it's occasional and no slip. At some point it's gonna need doing mate but if you've got any concerns let Chris have a look and he'll tell you if it's drastic.

 

Could be a bit of chatter from the flywheel.

Yeah I've never had a problem apart from that one instance, and like you said never slipped so maybe just a one off for now, have to start saving pennies again then ... great!
