martinmac
Continuing my bad car weekend I decided to fit my new Carbon Fibre bonnet yesterday. Removed the old one and took the new one out of the box The courier has obviously not bothered to store it flat and has damaged the corner. Have searched on google and it seems its very difficult to repair. Any ideas guys, preferably local to me
Zedrush
Hya bud, so sorry to hear that mate, stupid couriers, Best way is to get compensation, you cant fix carbon if corners are ruined unless its just the lacquer thats been effected. You got any pics mate?
H5
Similar to what Zedrush said, if it has damaged the weave then there will always be some sort of correction visible. I would go down the route of compensation for a new bonnet.....

Yeh definatly get in touch with courier, good thing is its not like a missing wheel that you signed for, it came in a box, you cant expect to check everything in the box on delivery. get in touch with Adam to see what cover he got on the item too
Stew
That's why I always mark on anything I sign for that it is unchecked! Sorry to hear that Martin and even sorrier to see the pictures!
mbs
Tough luck mate, not a nice sight when you open the box
H5
Ouch. The weave itself has been damaged and any repair (that is anywhere near cost effective) will leave an obvious look under the lacquer. Would get onto the courier and make use of that insurance.
Zedrush
SH7T !!!!!!! Just seen the pic, you sure was done during courier, person selling will have it insured have you kept the box, was box damaged or was it already done like that??? M13KYF
looks nasty Martin. I would be asking for a full refund or a replacement bonnet.
Chris`I
As the others have said, get the trader to raise it with their courier if the box was damaged, and if the box wasnt, then I'd assume it left them in that condtion which would be rather shocking! martinmac
Just to say that the seller did a great job of packaging and protecting it so its in no way their fault. Will go down the claim route and then have a drive over to the North East

Trev-the-Rev
Feel for you Martin. As has already been said, it looks beyond effective repair and you need to contact the courier straight away.

Will go down the claim route and then have a drive over to the North East I know this is a bit late now but if it was really packaged as well as you said it was Martin, it must have happened before it was posted to you. steve_b
Martin I have a fair amount of CF on my 7 (dash, front and rear wings, door guards and headlamps even the nose cone before silverstone happened) and when damaged it just just get worse over time. Vibration tends to extend the small cracks that form with impact damage.
martinmac
Is hardly worth fixing as it will cost a lot of money.
