ATTAK Z
Can I buy and take delivery of a new car now and register it myself 01 March 2017 ? How do you go about registering the car if you can do this ?
leonk
Assuming the dealer will let you, I'd download form v55/4 from the following link and have a scan through it. https://www.gov.uk/vehicle-registration/new-registrations I don't know how you stand regarding the "certificate of newness" and whether the new V5 will say registered 2017, declared manufactured 2016. ZEUS
A good friend of mine bought a new motorbike unregistered , raced it for a year and then registered it on the later year plate.
ZMANALEX
Yes, but only if the dealer is user friendly and he trusts you to not abuse the situation.

JetSet
Isn't it a legal requirement to have the dealers name on the number plate these days? Pete
Ekona
Nope, only the person/company who made the plate. It's only an MOT thing, no law against not having it.

Yes, you're right, a quick check reveals that vehicles registered after September 2001 must have the suppliers name on the plate to pass the MOT. It would seem that you can't get number plates made up these days without the makers/dealers name ...........well not legally anyway Pete
