davey_83
Two little rewarding jobs in one. My fuel filler cap cord decided enough was enough, so when looking to replace - a clean up was well overdue!!! Yuk, very much doubt this had ever been cleaned. davey_83
Yesterday found time to finish off the late spring clean. You know you're loosing it when you wash a car after 3 days and 6 miles worth of driving. Bilt Hamber Auto Foam 10:1 Hose rinse Two bucket wash with Megs Ult Shampoo Hose rinse Dodo Juice drying towel Autoglym SRP *2 layers aggregate. Soft99 Kiwami wax Went with Kiwami as I just love the stuff, so so easy to use and protection from this sealant is truly awesome. Apply to panel in traditional circular motion, finishing in straight lines. Grab your soft mf towel and buff immediately - done move on. Easy on, easy off. On the next wash before the Mids Meets, il dress the plastics, rubbers, slick the tyres and she's good. *beading shot taken from DW review. davey_83
Few detailing goodies received from @G1en@waxandshine and I was eager to try out CarChem Revolt and Gtechniq WM2 Microfibre Wash Mitt. Never had a posh mitt before, so lets see what's the fuss about. Left to right: A) Car Pride microfiber wash pad b) Simoniz microfiber wash mitt C) Gtechniq WM2 microfibre wash mitt D) Auto XS microfiber wash mitt A) Pros - easy and safe to manoeuvre, holds almost right amount of suds, easy to clean between sections. Cheap to buy. Cons - doesn't retain its shape after prolonged use. Not able to feel the contours of some of the panels. Glide factor - 7 b) Pros - easy and safe to manoeuvre, easy to clean between sections. Retains its shape. Cheap to buy. Cons - holds just shy of the right amount of suds, meaning extra returns to bucket. Ultimately no bad thing. Glide factor - 6 C) Pros - Dirt releasing design, super easy to clean between sections. Holds tones of suds so less bucket visits. Will hold its shape, Immense glide. Cons - holds way to much water for my liking, this almost dilutes the shampoo whilst cleaning panels. Heavy in use. Can't feel the contours of the panel. Glide factor - 10 D) Pros - easy and safe to manoeuvre, holds the perfect amount of suds. Holds its shape, feel the contours of the panel. Cheap to buy. Cons - Not than easy to clean out between panels. Glide factor - 8 Conclusion C) looks and feels great! And once I got the hang of how I liked it to perform, it's the best out of the bunch. b) will continue to be used for the lower sections of the car as it has a better feel and scrub action where needed. CarChem wheel cleaner and fallout remover is wonderful to use. 10/10, yes smell like a iron out would but not terrible. Wheels have never been cleaner! davey_83
As luck would have it, having a bottle of CC Revolt was just the ticket as the RAYS needed to be super clean and put away till winter - making way for a new set of rims. Every car I've owned I've always changed the wheels to help put my own little stamp on it, we all like to tinker. Owned my 350z for almost 3yrs, it's bugged me not to do the same. The option 18' RAYS are such a great wheel and I struggled to choose a set i felt would look nice in my eyes. eBay favourite 5x114.3 - 18' & 19' used for what seemed like forever, was showing nothing to my liking. One of my all time favourite wheels are the R34 GTR magnesium forged alloys. But seemingly have missed the boat for these as they go for silly money now, due to how rare they are. When Andy stuck up a FS thread for his old wheels, I couldn't see a reason not to drive down and pick them up. His 350z is super clean and the wheels were as you'd expect coming off a show car. With only doing a few thousand miles a year, there no better car to buy wheels from. New hardware applied: Tarmacsportz Neo lug nuts, flush centre caps and 66.1 sprigot rings. RAYS cleaned and put away. New wheels to take their place. VarrsToen ES2 *hyper silver 19x9.5 et12 - 255/35 R19 19x10.5 et12 - 275/35 R19 Absolutely chuffed with them and the wait was well worth it. Although initially I didn't want to get this style wheel, as its pretty much the default JDM choice...... Arguably the most copied aftermarket wheel design of recent times and it's easy to see why. Obviously the RAYS TE37's are the daddies, with numerous companies copying *Rota, Bola, Wolface, Calibre, JapanRacing. Of the lot, VarrsToen for me made the best looking. HEADPHONES
Damn.....that is a fine set of shoes! Hypersilver is the nuts. If I get round to refurbing the diamond cut faces on my Kia's black rims I may go for hypersilver faces on the black instead of polished. The reflections you got in your Paint in the first pic with the new rims look awesome too

davey_83
Cheers everyone!! 9 hours ago, reeceybeaney said: Such a big difference wheels can make to the whole car! Awesome choice Have you noticed a difference in driving since the wheel change? I was worried the driver might be adversely affected, which it is but not massively for everyday driving. Can feel the extra weight at the corners, but the wider tyres are worried much less by small cracks and pot holes in the road which is good. 50-60 miles re torque lug nuts to 70lb-ft, check and adjust tyre pressures and i'm good. My 350z has always been clean, but after its first MOT with me I treated her to an enhancement clean. OE rear with new front for reference..... Well if you ever fancy making some blue paint shiney then give me a call, I'd like to learn from the master! I really struggle to get a good finish when washing cars! That quite a step up in size mate! Wait till they're wrapped in new sticky rubber too be different again!!
davey_83
Deal pal! Washing cars in this weather is hell for sure and not fun. Yeah the 350z visually longs for 19's imo, I won't go for sticky Michelin's or similar as with the 19's I won't push the car to the measure that they'll make a noticeable difference. Reason being the car feels slower in all regards, so why push on in a slower spec. It's like racing someone in a new car with the drive mode set to normal instead of sport, why bother? Or from the days of Blitz boost controllers, racing in B boost instead of A. New rubbers all round will be great of course but no need to spend extra imo for the sake of it. 19's for Show, 18's for Go this you will attest to also.
