davey_83
Yeah really good and forgiving which is perfect for a novice like me. Not agressive but good for a home enhancement. Edited January 21, 2017 by davey_83
davey_83
Few pictures from Ace Cafe London the weekend. Fell on a really nice day weather wise, so much so that I didn't even feel the need to re clean once we got there which was nice result!! Even held its own parked next to a newer 350z with only 28k on the clock.
Paul K
Hi Dave, quick question about your Oil catch can install. did you have to make up a specific braket to fit it where it is, and if you did, what bolt did you fix it to.....great install by the way, love the orange pipework!! davey_83
Hey Paul Mine came a universal type bracket but worked fine enough, I used a random 10mm from the front of the engine to mount with a large washer to help spread the load. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/UNIVERSAL-BILLET-ROUND-ALLOY-OIL-RESEVOIR-CATCH-TANK-9-15MM-FITTINGS-KIT-BLACK-/191941584479?hash=item2cb09c265f:g:3q0AAOSwdzVXqNV4 Sadly not a great picture

davey_83
Few pictures of the motor from Pistonheads Sunday Service at Silverstone from the weekend. Conditions were just about as bad as they could be but still allow for the sessions to go ahead. Drove as fast as I dared and not a mph more!! Still very enjoyable as your senses are on maximum alert. Just happy to have came away unscathed. Kieran O'Quick
That could have been messy. Not easy to make a sudden dive around him when it's wet like that. Sounds like you enjoyed the adrenaline kick afterwards though.
davey_83
Not updated the tread for a good while and to merely keep a record of ownership progression. Lovely granny seat covers, which I adore. Keeps the seats cool in the summer and warm in the winter, less sliding around on track and best of all minimal wear from getting in and out. Just the other evening decided to tackle a job I had been putting off for weeks. Ending up dropping the wheel arch liners down and found the repair ott but straight forward at least. Great spot for wheel nuts too I found. Car show pictures: David
davey_83
Following on from the air con bomb thread, the item came next day so read the distructions and chucked it in. http://www.350z-uk.com/topic/117032-air-con-bomb-cleaner/#entry1738967 Keen for the aerosol not to fall over mid treatment, an old K Swiss stepped up.

Olly350z
Thoughts on the air con bomb Davey? Really wanting to de pong my interior and give it a spruce up. Jetwashed my matts yesterday
davey_83
Yes pal, its not removed a smell however replaced it with a new one which isn't too bad. Would recommend for sure. I find the 350z does get smells from the engine bay, plus there's no pollen filter either.
davey_83
Time for some well needed maintenance, in relation to engine health. From day one of ownership very nearly 2 years ago, it's always had a slight hesitation on idle once warm and when rolling on/off light throttle again a hesitation. Through swapping out intakes I've changed the MAF, no difference at all. Cleaned out and freed up the PCB valve as good practice still no difference. On the the VVT solenoids and after almost 80k, couldn't do any harm with a freshen up. From here il let the pictures do the talking
davey_83
Thought ok, that's not meant to look like this. Definitely a worth while investigation as no doubt the partially block solenoid ports will be having an adverse effect on not only engine smooth running, efficiency but performance also. Cleaned and tested both solenoids, working at least from what I can gather. Clean up pictures, note also some sealant inside bank 1 solenoid too ffs. As you can imagine the engine feels noticeably better for it and the idle is now bang on!!!! Not driven it a great deal, but the light throttle matter in thr higher gears is nowhere to be seen either - result.
davey_83
That time of year again for its MOT, booked the day before Japanese Performance Show so wanted to tart up some rust, lights and levels check the norm really. W brace and discs hubs painted with black hammerite. Should have done the brakes yonks ago, such simple yet effective task. Was about the right time to switch out my Nexen N8000 rears, for some Michelin Pilot Super Sports also. MOT straight PASS then layer home for a couple hours of pre car show grooming. Also a couple from JPS in Coventry with the club. Busy weekend gone, but all worth while.
davey_83
Following on from the winter prep thread, today I tackled the front wheel arches. Chassis wise there's a lack of underseal from factory and I'd be looking to address the matter. Used a combination of Bilberry and AG wheel cleaners, Daisy APC, various scrubbing brushes, mf towels, Hammerite stone chip, brake cleaner and ACF50. Also did the wheels while they were off and like a pro didn't take the all important after picture, huff. Weekend gone also treated her to a new coat of Soft99 Kiwami ready for the harsher months. Next up the rear arches and subframe. Edited October 7, 2017 by davey_83
davey_83
Had a weekend away just me and the Mrs to South Wingfield near the Peak District, few Zed pics needed as per. Stayed at Park Farm B&B and woke up to a stunning view, wee bit different to what we get in Birmingham. Yuk!! Ended as all other trips do, a visit to the local BP and relax. davey_83
More winter prep, not as thorough job as the front arches as most of the factory underseal was still holding up well. Daisy 50:50 APC Autoglym wheel cleaner for alloy suspension Agitate with stiff nylon brush Rinse and repeat Left to dry naturally Hammerite stone chip applied Plastics dress with Chemical Guys new trim gel ACF50 bushes, brake lines and suspension Before: Yuk!! During: Rinsed and left to dry
davey_83
Nothing in the way of modifications, more so keeping her clean and tidy through the winter as best as can be with being parked outside. Needless to say after two weeks being parked up and half this time being under snow, come thursday gone she wouldn't start. Thought ok, break out the portable battery booster *Suaoki U2 and epic fail!!! Arghhhh later that evening the trusty 92' Sunny to the rescue. Jump leads connected, wait a minute and the VQ35 burst into life. The next day meant long way to work allowed for some much needed charge, however I can't help but think the adverse effect dropping below 9v would of had. Hopefully nothing much as the battery didn't go completely flat at least. On a brighter note, petty happy with the December cover car for the Facebook group - thumbs up to the OEM+ cars. Not the 50/50 shot I normally aim for.
