Nice tip pal thank you. Those stones sound like nothing was stopping them causing harm sadly.

It looked more like bricks hitting my hood. So I'm still happy it didn't cause more damage. 🤣😂In my opinion it just shows how good it works.

The PPF will shrink al little overtime. I use Gyeon Tar to keep those edges clean and non sticky.

I do want to get the bonnet done also, however needs refining beforehand.

Which film did you go for and did your installer use a pattern or bulk PPF?

It's pattern. My hood and wheel arches are still Xpell. All the rest (mirrors, front bumper, sideskirts, partly rear bumper) is Gyeon PPF.

Never heard of PPF shrinking, however do know that for curvy sections (everywhere on a 350z) the patterns are cut a tad smaller than the panel allowing the installer to add stretch in places to reduce fingers/bunching.

Which part of you rear bumper is PPF'd? Had my Z many years now and never noticed any impact damage to rear bumper or is it for protection form soot build up?

Went out for a drive last night, pulling over for a night shoot. Typically phone battery was on its last legs and struggling in the low light, excuse the leveling 😀

Using a magna plate giving it that clean look for meets and shows.

Deep clean of the wheels during a weekly wash today, still using AG Magma which is my go to iron fallout remover.

It's only the small surface just behind the wheel/tyre. Don't know if it really helps, but it was a part of the whole PPF pattern. 😛

Another little addition, I feel like probably the last 350z owner to remove the weight out of the tailgate. Went a step further and did the wiper delete while it was all apart. Didn't entertain it previously, as liked having the functional rear wiper for the intended use, however it sure does clean up the rear a treat.

Bit of weight reduction

Coloured blank needed a few coats of lacquer to finish it off

Few pictures of mine from today's Drive-R show. Really nice event, well organised, weather thankfully was on point and a lovely bunch of Z33's 🤗

Even though I've had her almost 7 years, the 350z with the right mods is a utterly stunning car.

Few pics after a decontamination wash and dry, followed by a morning correction session at Top Wrapz in Birmingham. Even let me have a go with the air sander 3000 foam pad (knock back orange peel after repaint) and Rupes gear. Such a joy to use, really quiet machine to compared to my CYC, Chemical Guys and AutoBrite DA's plus of course the difference with working in doors.

After @Defacake kindly tag'd me in a FB announcement a few weeks back to say I had made it to the JDM Combe 🔰 Show & Shine 25, it gave me the kick up the butt to get a few bits done on the car I had in mind.

After the recent front end refresh, the orange feel on the drivers door (blend panel) was very apparent. I set about getting this sorted by spending a couple hours wet sanding the entire door by hand to level out the OP. Wasn't after a mirror finish but to achieve a more factory look, plus I don't possess the skills to attempt such a feat.

Started with 1500, 2000 and then 3000 which then required the long process to refine back up.

Ended making a pig's ear of it and clearly had bitten off more than I could chew. Top Wrapz to the rescue on sorting out my royal f*uk up. Working out doors and by hand for such a large panel just wasn't smart, causing an uneven finish. Panel needed 3000 on a air sander and then compounding/polishing could commence. Combination of pads and products brought it back to a great standard again. The whole car was treated to a machine polish, 2 stage on the newly painted panels and single on the remaining.

Wheels next. 2 years ago I set about wrapping my alloys, first to see if it could be done and secondly how well if at all would they hold up. I'm glad to confirm the hypothesis was proven correct on both accounts. The job was always a 7/10, as I was using cheap wrap and had minimal idea of what to do. Cleaning wrapped wheels however was an absolute joy, as it's so hard wearing compared to lacquer and seem to keep cleaner for longer. Water behaviour was amazing too, which contributed massively to them being able to stay cleaner between washes.

Having a grey car and grey wheel centres wasn't going to be a permanent look, being a wrap it didn't have to be either. Began removing the wrap with a hair dryer to reveal lovely mark free paint underneath. So I had forgotten another plus point, the wrap protects the paint underneath if it's in decent condition to start with. Went for a bronze pearl, however as it was going over hyper silver it's given it an anodised look. Process for achieving an anodised finish from a spray can, is base over silver then either gloss or matt lacquer.

Then hit the centres with 1000 grit sandpaper, at this moment I'm past the point of no return - let's carry on. All areas including the barrels key'd ready for paint. Thorough wash down, dry and mask performed with final tack cloth.

Conditions last week we're just about perfect for a spot if painting. 2 dust layers followed by 2 wet coats, followed by 2 dust coats of matt lacquer and a wet coat in my makeshift spray booth. Absolutely terrible to apply as you have no idea visually where you've been and have to rely solely on being methodical. Paint was left to cure for 36 hours in the rather toasty conservatory before applying a coat of gtechniq C5 wheel armour. The ceramic coating was then left to cure overnight before fitting the wheels back on, the day before JDM Combe. Quick wash and dry, with a visit to the local Tesco for some overly priced fuel and she was ready.

Nice one pal, painted enough wheel sets now to understand the importance of contamination control and surface preparation. Still getting use to the colour as it's like having new wheels again. Lowered the car another few turns on the coilovers too while the wheels were off. Once loosen I can still turn the lock ring by hand due to the coilover socks, which I'm chuffed about. Went the country roads way home from the show and the metal undertray catched on a couple of cats eyes when crossing lanes 🤣

Seen a couple of sunset or age Z's with bronze wheels and it works.
