davey_83
Went out for a drive to Diddley Squat Farm this morning with a few Z owners, including a rather famous guest. Literally the nicest chap ever, took the time to go round each and every car and chat to the owner. davey_83
Early morning trip over to the venue for this Sunday's Club meet, actually a nice spot too. Haven't been here for years so wanted to check the location and access. See details below.......
davey_83
The coilovers I bought didn't come with rear adjuster extenders, came across a simple yet effective idea - £6 damper adjuster solution with no holes in the interior. Do your adjustment, pop the trim back on and you're good. Drill in one hand, vacuum attachment in the other made it interesting. davey_83
Been a busy ol' couple of months for car shows/meets, with going to MidlandZ Evesham meet, Japanese Performance Show, Caffeine & Machine x2, British Motor Museum club meet and Yakushi show mixed with Z convoys for each 😃 Here's a mix of my photos and ones sent to me. Truly wonderful times linking up with fellow Z owners catching up and driving out. Coupled with warning lights on two occasions for a brake light switch fault and airbag connector, mixed with at show repairs for clutch fluid level and sun strip fitting @Phil T ☺️ Edited September 15, 2021 by davey_83
davey_83
The other morning I messaged Chris over at @Tarmac@TarmacSportz to see if they had any stock for their Mines style front splitter, goes they had two on the shelf - so made arrangements to pop up to collect that day. Wanted one for a while and finally pulled the trigger. Old splitter and carbon bumper insert off, quick clean up ready for the new item. Fitment was great however being a fussy bugger, i spent some time contouring the splitter where it bulked. Thought I'd rather do this as I didn't want to result to applying a silicon sealant, which can leave the splitter under unnecessary tension as your asking the material to pull/push into place. Unibond double sided tape for the centre and the side line up with the factory bumper lower bolts in front of the wheels. I also ran a torx self taper at the ends near the wheel wells for good measure. Absolutely chuffed with it and may look to PPF it as its in a high traffic area.

Looks sooo much better than the olde cupra splitter! 🤓👍
davey_83
Attempted to the PPF the front splitter in sections and failed terribly, even made a template. Previously did my carbon bumper insert however this time she wasn't having none of it. Gave up on the idea and stuck a layer of sealant on to make myself feel better.
HEADPHONES
To be fair there are alot of intricate curves on that splitter. It'd be great if there was a plastidip type spray that had a really glossy transparent finish to it. Just mask up and spray on a protective clear top coat that could be relatively easily peeled off and replaced as it aged and chipped.
davey_83
I'll give it another go, think I used too much Johnson's baby shampoo in the mix as it sort of neutralised the tac of the film sadly. Local manor house to us has a lovely long drive and the one day noticed the gate was open so....... Took enough so I never have to go back 😅 The wheels, tyres, suspension, engine bay and exhaust set up coupled with the overall looks for me makes this like no other 350z. As you can probably guess I'm a wee bit besotted 😄 Edited September 22, 2021 by davey_83

davey_83
Few highlights from the Exclusive JDM Season Finale near Leeds. Didn't fall well doing a 4hr return journey however it's such a great car for long trips it was no hardship. davey_83
Cheers fella So the facelift headlamps have been wrapped for the 3rd time and I'm finally happy with them. First tinted wrap was a shade too dark, second effort I went with a more expensive VviviD wrap £30 compared to £6. Air release dry wrap which didn't go on so well, which was my error and when left parked in the sun the film blistered which was annoying. Also the finish was a satin look however I was use to gloss. That was soon warmed and peeled off ready for a light smoke tint in gloss, that I'm now happy with - phew Came across a couple pics online from the weekend up North. An actual show pic with the bonnet down for a change 🤭
davey_83
Last weekend I went along to the club's Rolling Road Day held at MSL Performance. Prior check over needed for the vehicle and managed to sorted out an exhaust leak from the y pipe v band. Fitted a Tarmacsportz ally undertray whilst carrying out an oil change for good measure. Also gave me the chance to swap over to the winter wheels ready for the morning, along with raising the ride height 15mm. Structurally alot more supportive than the 16yr old factory plastic item and future oil & filter changes will be a cinch. Tyre pressures set to 34psi Wheel spacers on and ride height adjusted. In the shop 😄 Now time for a few pulls Best run 251whp and 242wtq As over on the meet thread, all enjoyed the morning and the friendly service from the team at MSL. The mix of FWD, RWD & AWD coupled with both modified and standard cars made this a really worthwhile meet, same dyno same day. davey_83
Better late than never, Winter clean and protection carried out. Pre was 2 bucket wash Towel dry SP Pro Neutral Enhance Soft99 Kiwami sealant SP Pro NE used as a paint cleanse/prep for the LSP. Few days later and in typical fashion it rained. After cleaning thought I'd bag the tailpipes to help stop water spotting, as I won't be driving her for a while.
HEADPHONES
Don't you find using a paint cleanser stage TOTALLY transforms the wax experience later? I loath using a wax unless I've either used clay or a paint cleanser (eg. SRP or Autofinesse Tripple). The surface would just feel grabby preventing smooth application and buffing of the wax. But after a paint cleanse, waxing just feels SOOOO good, with the wax spreading thinly and effortlessly over the paint and buffing off with the slightest of pressure. Very envious of you having the time to do this. Was just a normal wash and a drying aid LSP for me this week.
