H1979
Hi, so my wife has got a puncture on a virtually brand new tyre with a screw (5-6mm width) in the centre portion (see pic). She took it to f1 auto centre nearby which is about the only place open today and they told her they couldn't repair it as "it had gone right through". When she told me this I was a little confused as won't all punctures be right through?? So before wasting my time taking it somewhere else what do you peeps think about this being repaired? Cheers for your input. Edited September 11, 2016 by H1979
Jonny B
If it hadn't gone right through it wouldn't be a puncture 🙈 Looks like somebody wanted to sell a new tyre. When it's nowhere near the sidewall there shouldn't be any issues with fixing it I would say.
brillomaster
yeah, cant see a major problem getting that repaired, take it somewhere else.
H1979
Excellent, thanks for the quick response chaps. Wish I'd gone with her now - lesson learned. Think a politely worded e-mail could be in order.
Andy_Muxlow
As above buddy, the only place they can't repair is on or very close to the side wall. Or if the hole is too big. Sent from my iPhone using hammer and chisel!
d95gas
That should be fine with a repair plug, we used to do them all the time, as everyone says, its when its close to the sidewall there are problems getting them repaired, find a decent tire fitter and they should be able to help you. GMballistic
Definitely repairable imho. I worked at ATS Euromaster for a short stint when I was a lot younger repairing tyres, fitting new ones, exhausts etc and as has been mentioned it's only when the damage is too close to the side wall, is a tear or the hole is just too big that it cannot be repaired. Good luck.
HEADPHONES
That's actually THE BEST place to get a screw if you had to get a puncture:lol: Well away from the sides and dead centre. I suppose it's only a lost cause if the tyre had gone completely flat and the alloy's rim had damaged the sidewalls. Hopefully a nice cheap fix
veilside z
Easy fix with a plug and in the best location. As above quoted a side wall would have been a no no. I hope they didn't sell you a new tyre. I would go back and seek the management out, and if no joy, then Head office
