MBish91
So... I'm looking to purchase my friends well looked after 350z in October time this year! it's completely standard other than Cat-back exhaust and an Air filter. I test drove it and fell in love straight away! I've previously had experience driving cars of similar power (r33 GTST, Celica GT4, Porche etc) Most insurance companies I'm gong to are asking for a ridiculous price, Lowest I've found is £888 with Bell with a black box!, which is stupid as no-one wants a black box. I'm 25 and have got 4 years no claims and live in a small town and work as a business analyst! ( I would like to add my girlfriend to the policy as well, who is also 25 and has 7 years NCB) I've have no convictions or restrictions I tried Andrian Flux and got told "It's over a 1000, sorry" and Skyinsurance, require me for owning the car over a year (which was a shame as their customer service was Excellent!!) I've tried comparison websites and the prices changes each time. I've cleared my cache and this dropped the prices a little (Hmmm) can anyone recommend an insurance company to try, I'm I can't be the only 25 year old in the same situation! much regards, MBish91
veeg33
Most insurance trader here will probably won't be able to insure you due to age and also experience with your zed. Was on the same boat when 1 first got my zed (30yrs old at that time). Ended up getting a quote from the Meerkats for £470 ish. Few tricks that worked for me to lower my premium: 1.) Access to company car including social (missus's company car + my company's pool car) 2.) Limited to 4000 miles (i only use it for weekends drive as i usually cycle to work). 3.) Start date as late as possible (3-4 weeks) i find the cheapest 4.) Try with and without adding your GF - Sometimes it's cheaper but again, they will count experience driving the zed. 5.) Pay annually - £40-£50 cheaper Good luck with the hunt mate!!
350 Russ
Skyinsurance, require me for owning the car over a year (which was a shame as their customer service was Excellent!!) HA!! Sky insurance in my opinion are a shower of bas****s. I honesty hope their office burns down. But your insurance quote doesn't seem too bad to me. I'm 30 with a clean lisence 9 years NCB and I've just been quoted £780 renewal by Adrian flux.
RickyZ
Apparently insurance premiums have risen around 10% generally this year. Not sure why that is, maybe a lot of people crashed last year. Good luck in finding a cheap premium but i don't think under £900 is too bad considering your age and only 4 years NCB
StevoD
my cheapest on first year was admiral
Apoc124
im 22 with 4 years NCB, 6 points on my license and declared minor mods and I paid 860 back in feb when i bought the car (i did have to have a black box for three months but they didn't give a crap how i drove) Comparison websites are the best until you get a year under your belt with the car and that seems to be a theme with these. I heard sky were very good, why the bad rep with them?
Adrian@TORQEN
This year I got the following quotes: SkyInsurance £1200 - current insurer on GTR PrestigeKeepMoving - £641 BridleInsurance - £651.53 - current insurer on X5 Reis - £797 PaceWard - £750 BrentAcre - £950 Keith Michael - £1600 Privilege- £931 Competition Car Insurance - £1350 - 5 track days included Mayfair Online - £740 The others didn't bother to call back for more than a week now. See my list here, call everyone, it's well worth the effort: http://www.350z-uk.com/topic/105064-specialised-car-insurance-brokers/ Edited August 15, 2016 by Adrian@TORQEN
HEADPHONES
You can also try a different job description. ......like clerical instead of business analyst. Obviously you can't take the peepee and put down church bishop if you're a club dj
MBish91
Cheers guys, massive help. All good suggestions Church Bishop to a club DJ hahah.... you're right about driving it for at least a year, a lot of the specialists have been awesome on the phone but have said I need a year first. I guess I will have to bite the bullet and go for over a 1k. p.s. Torqen I'll try the list cheers mate!
roasty
Yep 25 and 7 years NCB just renewed mine with Adrian flux £979 clean licence and all mods declared
HEADPHONES
Try quotes on a standard zed. Some companies won't quote on modded cars but are cheap on standard. Maybe if prices were very good on standard with NO BLACK BOX you could bung a cheap OEM 2nd hand box and filter in for a year til you can get quotes from companies requiring a years ownership before quoting better prices. rabbitstew
Mirrors my experience when I first got my zed although I was nearly 40 and had about 20 years NCB. All the specialists came back at silly money, and the reason/excuse they gave was purely because I hadnt recent experience in a high powered RWD car. Id had loads of quick cars in the past and also had various high performance superbikes in my garage which I was currently riding, but that didnt count. I was really surprised, as it seemed to be purely down to the zed, as I was getting quotes of something like £400 for a BMW M3, £500 for a Porsche Boxster and even £600 for a NIssan GTR or a Lambo Gallardo, and yet the 350z was coming back at well over £1000. I think the cheapest I found in year 1 was Adrian Flux at just under £1000, then for year 2 I moved to Admiral at £700. Annoyingly once I sold the car, every man & his dog were then quoting me £300 to insure one. Insurance logic eh?

G1en
The main message is shop around. State that you are office based as this should be low risk and state the best estimate milage as this can make 100/200 quid difference from say 6000 to 12000. Try adding your mum/gran/neighbour to see if it reduces. Issurance companies without doubt have an encyclopedia full of excuses why your premium is high or has gone up. The things like you have a south facing drive so it gets more sun so engine could overheat and you live in a LS postcode and mi5 have informed them its an ISIS target etc.... Just try to be savvy
MBish91
Thanks guys, shopped around and still the price seems super high for the first year, I guess I will have to bite bullet and go for it. Alternatively I get something a little under power for a for year (maybe Golf GTI) and then get a 350z. ..which the insurance companies said would help. It's not a case of not affording it for me, just I don't like spending a sh1t tonne out of principal as the insurance companies will screw you either way. Frustrating, I also think the hell with it and just buy one anyway ...such an amazing car to drive.
Chris Wiltshire
Would never touch Adrian Flux after my experience with them.. Cheapest I could get on a 350z was £1400 and the same company quoted £6600 on my 370z! Admiral were decent.
Grumsby
Don't feel too bad mate, I'm in the process of paying for my insurance today/tomorrow for the 9th with my driving ban being up (my own fault being banned and I know it was stupid so don't need the rants at me haha) at 21 with 2 years no claims and the cheapest is around £3950!! That's even including the specialists who seem happy with the fact I had a jaguar S-Type R at 19 so the high power RWD situation is covered. roasty
Yep 25 and 7 years NCB just renewed mine with Adrian flux £979 clean licence and all mods declared Ok turns out they cocked up my NCB and have refunded me £358 so my insurance has gone down to £621 a right result I say
GizmoGold
I thought I'd see how much Adrian Flux was going to be, even though it's not due for a few months. Got a quote of £390 which includes my few mods (28 w/ 6yr NCB)
Nismonster
The cheapest for me was Diamond! (Probably think I'm an old lady). Been with them for 3 years now. Got it down to £340 this year with mods. I'm 27 with 6yrs NCB. Happy days!

stirzz
Insurance all depends on where you live it seems, as I'm 22 with 5 years NCB and it's only costing me £619 on my 370z and last year I was £738 when I bought the car. (elephant btw) Edited August 31, 2016 by stirzz
TT350
Sky insurance insured mine. After turbo conversion and all other mods declared was just under a grand. Adrian Flux oddly wouldn't insure me but the guy must have been having a bad day I think because he barely took any details and just said "naaaaah mate you ain't gonna get cover bud" My focus ST is with them now though. But was 800 quid! Standard 02 focus st170 worth 500 quid lol. Must be the area. OL postcode 34 year old male with max no claims No points on licence
