Help with airbag fault sequence

Hi guys,

I'm trying to fix a fault I may have. The airbag light flashes while I'm driving, it's been reset a couple times and reappears so I want to try diagnose the problem abd fix it.

I read on a forum on a method of getting it into diagnostic mode, which I've achieved. Problem now is I'm trying to understand the sequence and interpret the code.

It seems like it's 3 seconds on, 2 seconds off.

I've included a short clip of it in link below

Any help greatly appreciated.

The flash pattern you see (3 seconds ON, 2 seconds OFF) while in the diagnostic mode means that no faults are present, but that the diagnostic memory has not been erased. To erase the memory while in the diagnostic mode, simply turn the ignition key OFF, then ON again.

When I did the pedal dance fpr my flashing light I got no faults recorded too.

Took it to my independent whi diagnosed and replaced a faulty clock spring.

Problem solved.

Not too dear if a second hand one can be found.

Cost about £100 including fitting.

I just reset it every time it pops up. Not too difficult :)

Process is:

1. Turn key to contact position

2. Wait until airbag light turns off, then immediately turn key to "off" position

Repeat process consecutively 3 times and at the end of the 3rd time when the airbag light disappears, turn the engine on.

Make sure once key has been turned to off positon, flip it straight back to contact virtually immediately :)

Hi guys,

I appreciate the help. Well I'm glad that the pattern doesn't indicate a fault.

But something must be triggering the fault but perhaps intermittently?

I will check the connections under the seat.

I've also read a lot about the clock spring if it's faulty it can throw up a fault but isn't storestored or something along those lines. Lots of trial and error.

The airbag light is off for now. If it reappears, I'll take it down to my local garage and try find the fault on their scanners.

Regards

J
