Chris Wiltshire
Hello, Recently fitted HKS 5003-M40HL spark plugs and noticed that the gap on these is quite a bit smaller than the stock Denso ones and looking through different forums there seems to be a lot of mixed opinions on gap sizes. Im N/A tuned to 332WHP and after having a good drive it seems to have made a positive difference, would a smaller gap really make a difference on a car thats running about 50hp extra over stock? Tricky-Ricky
You only really need a smaller gap when either the motor is running high compression and/or the motor is boosted, generally with modern ignition systems there is sufficient power to accommodate a reasonably large gap without loss, tired coil packs will likely reduce spark intensity, so running a smaller gap will likely restore the lost power, which I would suspect your noticing. RobZed
Sure this would be available from Nissan slip gauges at the ready.. From past experience even the pre adjusted ones need a small tweek
