GeorgeW
So I may be swapping to a R33 skyline at the weekend, and rang for a quote, but I cant get insured.. I am 26 years old, no convictions, crashes etc clean license, just about to get my 5th year no claims, had the 350z for a year. Any reason for this? quite dissapointed
CK@Chris Knott Insurance
Hi, It's a combination of your age and the vehicle I'm afraid. We couldn't insure you on a 350Z until you're 28 so a modified Skyline is going to be impossible at 26. Sorry about that - it's the rules the insurers on our panel set to ensure they don't pick up dodgier risks. best, Nick
GeorgeW
I understand. kind of.. My insurance is £300 on the 350z this year, which I thought was amazing, that was with Hastings direct, I think they came out tops a few times for me now. Its funny how the rules change so dramatically between the companies. Just for future reference, what IS the minimum age for a R33 GTST? veilside z
Strange, we have members on here in their early 20s insured with certain companies.
coldel
My Skyline was also more expensive to insure than the 350z, they are generally a lot more desirable I suspect from a 'theft' point of view than the Zed. My Zed insurance was about £280 aged 40, Skyline was up around the £500 mark. Try asking for Dan at A-Plan (Sorry Nick to post here, just some advice for the guy, I have my Celica GT4 with you guys currently!) who ultimately insured me on mine.

CK@Chris Knott Insurance
Just for future reference, what IS the minimum age for a R33 GTST? It'll be at least 28 but the rest of the risk also needs to stack up - for that car we have to refer directly to the insurer for a decision whereas other stuff we're allowed to quote in-house. WINKJ
I'm 26 now, had a HR 350z for nearly 3 years and I've had my 370z nismo for 2 years - never once had a challenge with insurance
