Indyzed
I don't wear any jewelry but I do like a blingy watch. The nice thing about the higher end watches (Rolex, Patek, Breitling) is that they hold their value. At least in the states they do. If you take care of your Rolex, you can sell it years down the road for nearly what you paid. They can be an investment like diamond jewelry. H5
£16k is hardly the lower end of anything except houses! Most people never spend that on a car let alone a watch! I have a Tag or two, but my boss has half a dozen limited edition Rolex's / Breitlings etc. that he buys with his bonus each year. Some of them just look silly though IMO. +1 like the engagement ring you bought lauren and the diamond thoong Better than that diamonte pap you 'blessed' her with..... I had a Rolex Datejust and sold it for £250 less than I paid for it after 10 years of ownership.

Indyzed
I was just on Breitling's website and right on their home page they make it clear that no certified dealer is allowed to sell Breitlings on the internet and if they do, Breitling will not honor the purchase. There aren't any dealers around me. That sucks.

I had one stolen in a burglary and I found the replacement online but the insurance company wouldn't allow me to buy it and gave me vouchers for a heck of a lot more to get the replacement model.....!! That's cool. It really pays to insure your jewelry. My wife has several high dollar items and we schedule all of it.

Drexyl
Omega Seamaster for me everytime. I find rolex'seses a little too typical, and with so many fakes out there every man and his dog has got one! Brietlings are nice (ish), but some look over-complicated. Omega just ooze class and style. Check it, my baby...

3FIDDYZ
To Mark, what would the £100k watch be worth after, say, 2 years? About the same amount as it would have been unworn, perhaps a 5% increase, in 25 years you may be looking at a 35% increase due to its limited status... If you look at page 4 on this site Lot 398 http://www.artcurial.com/pdf/presse/2007/r1261.pdf I sold a series of these watches that came in a group of 6... I think that they were about 20k each and this one sold for 50k euros... Not a bad return in 17 years!! If he had have sold all 6 he would have made alot more money... Big Phil, nice collection mate

I 'looked' at one a few years ago when I was on my way down to the south coast, in a small specialist dealer, and it was up for £125k. The last one I saw a few months ago the guy had paid £250k for!! Classic car market is very fragile, especially in uncertain economic times. Anyway, the comparison was with a new car.

wanta350
watches.... I like the look of them.... but can't be bothered to wear them........ bought a fake rolex in hk......looked gorgeous....really did..... for once in my life back in 2006 I did some washing up for my future in laws....took the watch off, forgot about it, and then they misplaced it in a load of folders...and I never saw that watch again until a year later!! Can you imagine, if I did that with a real one.....knowing me, I'll lose it somewhere...
