GeorgeW
Coldel, what was your technique for polishing the bonnet! Did you use just a fine pad for work your way up etc?
Husky
? You can't hide your pre photoshopped image from me!
coldel
Right going back to check you got me thinking now, I normally use snapseed to jazz up photos and that puts an _snapseed tag on it which this didnt...give me 2 mins whilst I get the original off my phone...I will be back! coldel
Right, downloaded the photo from my iPhone, put on PB, posted here...looks the same? Or and I going crazy, do your thing on it Husky! In terms of polish, I went in two stages, firstly this (Menzerna 3800) http://www.cleanyour...l/prod_218.html then this (Menzerna 2500) http://www.cleanyour...l/prod_574.html Used a medium (Yellow) pad on the first run and a soft (Black) pad second time around. Payco
I saw this in the flesh at Incarnation last Saturday and believe me its as good in the flesh as in the photo. Stunning paintwork finish. The only thing I didn't like is I could see my ugly face in the bonnet.

sipar69
Did you follow a particular guide for your polishing technique? I'm interested in going down this route when we move and have a garage or at least some off road space, but I'm a bit concerned about getting it wrong and knackering the paint. Tomb
Its all in the prep for a wet look finish .. Search on youtube for Junkman polishing, go through his beginers guide very helpful. Also check out on Ammo detailing on youtube Larrys videos are very informative.

coldel
This is a good vid, you don't need sound either its all subtitled (so you dont have to listen to the daft music) only thing missing is priming the pad if its new...
ilogikal1
Just a word of warning regarding Junkman's videos; whilst he can offer some insight to various things detailing he doesn't acknowledge (actually he actively denies) that paint hardness differs so take his "advice" about machine polishing in particular as one opinion rather than gospel. Personally I think there are much better sources of information, but hey ho. Whilst doing your research, give these a read through too; http://www.polishedbliss.co.uk/acatalog/what-does-polishing-do.html and http://www.polishedbliss.co.uk/acatalog/what-polish-should-i-use.html
Ekona
he doesn't acknowledge (actually he actively denies) that paint hardness differs Really?! Clearly the man has never tried working on an S3 then
Paul K
There is a very good, but lengthy guide to machine polishing on the "detailingworld forum" http://www.detailingworld.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=63859 before i had a go with the DA i read everything i could and watched loads of vids...some are good and informative (Larry from AMMO), but its definitely worth going to the local scrapyard and grabbing and old boot lid and having a go on that first, gives you an insite on how much pressure to apply to keep the pad rotating. Randy_Baton
Just put a few black stripes on the backing plate and then you can see if the pad is rotating or not.

ilogikal1
he doesn't acknowledge (actually he actively denies) that paint hardness differs Really?! Clearly the man has never tried working on an S3 then True story. I'll admit that I've watched no more than half a dozen of his videos but I don't recall ever seeing him work on anything that's not American made. It's quite possible that he's only worked on one marque. Even then I'd be most surprised if everything he's ever touched had the same paint on it! Tomb
Now you've mentioned it I've got to agree!! But none the less he puts it very simply for first timers and he is entertaining.
