Grumsby
Evening everybody, As you may notice by my profile I've actually been a member here for quite a while (nearly two years) and I've still not got myself a Zed, however the time has come and I had 3 viewings on Friday and another 3 on Saturday of the last cars that I whittled my search down to. If they're weren't exactly what I wanted then I'd walk away (been after a particular spec for quite some time), but if the right car is in that small group after a 12 month search, I'd take her home. The time has now come to announce I found that car I was always after. Must haves were HR engine, GT pack w/sat nav, black leather, rays wheels and an unmolested model (or as little as possible). Managed to find one newly listed at a small car dealers down in Sheffield (I'm near Chester) at £6k!! Headed down on the Saturday, went for a spin with the dealer man and he backed it into a post coming back into the forecourt resulting in a small crease in the rear bumper (pics to follow) and knocked me £500 off for that and then I knocked some off for a P3 and other bits. Anyhow, £4800 lighter and I have a 2007 registered HR engined GT spec blade silver 350Z and I'm utterly in love Generally spent my time on this lovely forum trawling through tips for buying and maintaining the cars, read A LOT of build threads including very old ones and years worth of pages (pulling 9 hour work shifts on the forum reading 65+ pages worth of thread at once - I'm looking at you Wasso ) and still never said a word to anybody, just been sat in the corner watching you all have fun (as weird as that sounds) waiting for my insurance to come down enough for me to justify the expense of it on a Zed. A driving ban last year for excessive speed in my old Jag meant 18 months off the road (and the wait for insurance to come down has doubled, but I can't wait any longer for a Zed), I'll get my license back on September the 9th, and this gives me plenty of time to become accustomed to the horrific side effects of Zeditus on the wallet - Thankfully a large pay rise is due in October, so that should come in handy once I get on the road again and feel for myself what I fancy changing. As it stands, I've paid the extra for the Missus to insure the Zed so I can still enjoy being in the cabin on the odd sunny weekend, can't just have it sit on the driveway and do nothing!! Be great to get to know you all, and I'll keep you updated as to what I end up buying or not buying parts wise and I'll be sure to post some photos as soon as I've got some and worked out how to host them. G1en
£4800 for a HR model is probably the cheapest in the country. Thats bordering on SCAM material as you may know about reading threads. Very well done I paid 10300 for my HR a few months back and it was by no means perfect

Very well done I paid 10300 for my HR a few months back and it was by no means perfect Yeah well as you may have read in the 'Spotted on eBay or other' thread on here I did actually get into contact with one I found on eBay, a 57 plate with 32k miles that turned out to be a scam, as soon as they emailed about them being in Italy and delivering the car to me I just stopped all communication and walked away from that. This one however, at £6k advertised seemed more plausible, photos were actually taken in the car sales place that the account name showed and there was a real phone number with it. A week of chatting with the guys there, a HPI check and bank withdrawal later, I went on down to Sheffield in my Dads car (diesel mondeo, cheap on fuel and meant me and mrs could go at the same time as she would be driving whatever I bought back home) with the cash and went out in the car for a test drive and what not to ensure it wasn't too good to be true. All was well and it didn't skip a beat for 190 miles of driving home (various detours for more fun roads) so I'm over the moon.
Grumsby
As promised, some photos of the car... Not got many really as I've been in work and she really needs a good detailing session and repair on the rear bumper due to the aforementioned issue. Grumsby
Couple of shots of the drive home (from the passenger seat ) which was fairly enjoyable regardless of not being able to be at the helm legally for a while still. and a couple I took when I got home, including some of the bumper damage I mentioned in my first post. One downside to this is the dealership purchased from didn't have any ramps, so I didn't get a great look underneath just using the jack that came in the car for a brief inspection for my peace of mind before handing over the money. Fired her up and she was very loud and sounded pretty good to be fair, and he said he thought the exhaust had been done and that was all (as he knew I wanted one that was bone stock to toy with myself) so I took his word and left after inspecting everywhere else for bends, dents, twists or overspray etc. However when I got home and had a look to see what exhaust was on the car, I was bemused to see an embossed NISSAN logo in the rear box - Cue this discovery: NOTE you can see the underside of the body of the car through the gap between the flanges in the exhaust where the gasket has completely gone and rust has taken over... This prompted the missus to say 'ooh, that's a little rusty don't you think, probably about time for a new one for your MOT when you get that done' (it's due in June) - This prompted me to think aftermarket, almost immediately, with no problems regarding expenditure as thus far she's just suggesting mods for me! Edits: Photos didn't work To do list: New reg plates, as you can see they're not in great condition and I just want to spruce her up a little in the coming week or so before I go on holiday (got to keep funds for that before Zeditis takes over) Polish up headlight units Send bumper off to a mate (works at Bentley as a painter but has a booth in his garage) and the front one for stone chip repairs Browse forum for videos - Source exhaust. Long but there's my intro, and probably the cheapest HR 350 you'll see for a while that actually assimilated and wasn't a scam! Dan. Grumsby
Looks to be you may of picked a bargain here..!, just one question what the millage..? She's on 107k... However has a complete documented service history with receipts from new, done at nissan until 102k when it had a timing chain and P3 done alongside an MOT at a halfords autocentre (of all places) at over £750!! So, high ish miles but with a proper history and in such good condition I'm not TOO bothered. Dan.
jowen7448
This does look like you have potentially bagged yourself bargain of the century. Sub 5k for a HR that actually exists and hopefully doesn't need too much work.
Husky
Dealing with the rusty stock exhaust flange is like a right of passage for all Zed owners

Absolutely smashed it at that price, was expecting you to say it had 5000000 miles on it lol I have read through your progress thread on the engine rebuild, it's a shame you've had to go through that and do it but at least now you know you'll be running a brand new engine (so to speak) and the car will be better than it ever has been since it left Nissan's door.
RickyZ
That's an unbelievable price for an HR z. Well done! The dealer must have thought it was a DE or something...
Grumsby
That's an unbelievable price for an HR z. Well done! The dealer must have thought it was a DE or something... He didn't seem particularly well educated on the car as a whole, it was just a general used car dealership and I feel they're used to the likes of family hatches and small saloons really - if anything it was me picking out little bits and looking for the common faults that come with these cars (aside the exhaust, as you've read). Nonetheless, I'm very pleased with the car and madly in love with her already without even having had a go!
Grundy
Clean it up and sell it Profit to be made!
Payco
Well done indeed. Have a look at Andy James blade silver, that will show you what can be done with a blade silver 350z.
-Bradders-
I'd be along the same lines as grundy, clean it up, sell it for about 7-8k, you've nearly doubled up!
Grumsby
I can't clean up and sell now! I've been waiting years to get one of these things in this spec, and if I sell it I'll just spend the money made on buying another that's the same but at a higher price!! 😂 I'll make sure to have a look at Andy's Zed, cheers.
