Angrybiker
Anyone got any experience with the Vauxhall Monaro or VXR8? I'm looking at replacing the 350z with something childseat friendly and if you can overlook the Vauxhall badge then 6.0l V8 and rearwheel drive should be a giggle Sent from my SM-G928F using Tapatalk
88 Zed
I know the VXR8 is a nightmare to get parts for, had one in work a few weeks ago for some exhaust clamps and price up a service. I had to order the clamps from a specialist place after much googling because lookers told me that they don't deal with any of the VXR8s only the Monaro ( apparently a compleatly different car) Sounded awesome tho! Angrybiker
I know it's a Holden at heart but you'd think Vauxhall would be duty-bound to keep parts in stock Sent from my SM-G928F using Tapatalk

They gave me a number of a dealers in Wales somwere and told me they are the only Vauxhall dealers that can get parts, called them and then they told me they didn't recognise the reg number in there system so I ended up using the forums to get part numbers etc.
Lexx
Hullo. Bash any questions in a PM to me mate and I'll do my best to answer them. Owned an LS3 VXR8 for a good while.
Lexx
lookers told me that they don't deal with any of the VXR8s only the Monaro ( apparently a compleatly different car) Sounded awesome tho! It is indeed a completely different car. The only thing they really share is a period in time when the LS2 was found in them both. There are plenty of good specialists in the UK who can provide parts, and the boss of the Vauxhall VXR brand is a member on Pistonheads and very approachable for assistance. The engine is the same as in a Camaro, Corvette, etc. So any american specialist can supply engine parts and expendables. Brakes are AP's, so bad and discs etc are easy enough to get hold of.

Honestly mine was the best car I have ever owned, and me and the wife are in discussions on getting another in the near future as she loved it too. Required a decent amount of new suspension parts. Decided to get shot once it was repaired and it paid for a deposit on my first house. Richf
I took one of the new ones out recently , I thought it would be right up my street , big powerful and rwd with lots more space than the 370 I have to say I have rarely been as disappointed in a car The finish inside was lousy the stitching around the dash was poor and not even straight , the general materials were cheap and poor quality , it sounded nice around town but was too quiet on full chat , the model i drove was meant to be 575hp , if you have told me it was 400hp i would have believed you the performance was totally underwhelming really didnt feel like a car that can hit 60 in less than 5 seconds Worse of all 12 months lead time £5k non returnable deposit and 6% interest on finance Even the wife who drives a Prius was scathing , she said its like a big Vectra - have to say I agreed with her Truth was I was totally gutted , I really wanted to love the car , it well within my budget and would have probably replaced my daily as well as they are so practical I had met a load of owners the week before and a few of them reckoned I wouldn't be impressed after driving a 370z , sad to say they were right But there are some pluses , a good bunch of owners , passionate about their cars , the sound of a V8 , cheaper parts and some are easy to get hold of in the right places and very rare on the road
blaqkaudio
My old man many many years ago had one, was the md at Vauxhall before they went tits up, co-owns Wortec who specialize in tuning them. Was unreal when s/c tuned. The Monaro we had before the VXR8 was far more wild and raw, not as refined. Check this video out I did, covers his car as a first Wortec edition, our mates VXR8 and the custom s/c VXR Maloo (almost 9 years ago!) many sexual V8 noises
