ioneabee
a nice chuckle article http://thegarage.jalopnik.com/suede-is-a-garbage-material-for-car-interiors-1733409981
Ekona
Amen! Can't stand the bloody stuff, it's like nails down a blackboard to me.
Mondo 300
Even though I actually have some Alcantara in my own car, it's something I prefer not to work with as it is ludicrously expensive and, all things considered, it's not really "all that"... But, from my perspective, what the customer wants.......
ioneabee
absolutely, just not for me - headliner is ok (sort of), but anywhere else including dash and steering wheel .......... no thanks
philw99
This is relevant to me. Just about to get my steering wheel re-covered. Want something with more grip than leather. Been advised against alacantra but still want it. Cars only used for track days, plus I wear gloves. If it's good enough for porsche I'll be fine right? Ekona
Have you ever seen a lightly used GT3 wheel? Even with gloves, it'll be wrecked in short order. There's lots of different types of leather, perforated would be my pick.
Bodyboarder81
Haha great article and I agree ..... But I love the look ! Hence why I have it in my car! When the steering wheel gets a bit tatty I'll get it recovered again for £150 .... No biggy really .
Jetpilot
Think i would prefer to look at some alcantara/suede than two massive slabs of plastic when it comes to the dash.
Jewell
My old dash was carbon fibre/alcantara/leather seats. When done right, it looks good......obviously that depends what your idea of good actually is.

blobbish
^^^^ If they have so little respect for the car the I wouldn't be using them. I just use a none bio weak solution on my suede bits. Comes up a treat.

AliveBoy
For a steering wheel matched with gloves it's amazing, anything else... nope.
Zeezeebaba
I'm not keen on alcantara, the only car I ever had it in was a racing puma. The slightest bit of dirt on your hands transferred straight on to it, eventually it bobbled so needed a re trim.
