addisj
Hi all, I am wondering if it is common to get a gap at the top of the boot (both sides) after fitting new gas struts? I definitely fit them right way round, but either side of the boot at the top is raised buy a good few mil. Quite noticeable if you stand at the front of the car and look towards the back. The boot closes OK. Thanks.
billdingo
Sounds like you've got the brackets upside down.

Cyder
We did the same as well but luckily realised when we found it was bloody hard to get the top of the strut to fix to the boot lid!
addisj
Ah man how funny. I just went out and swapped em over - perfect. I can see why people make this mistake as when the bracket is the wrong way up, it actually fits with the contours of the body. Thanks very much for your posts.. On a Saturday as well! cheers
veilside z
Excellent. You would think they would put a sticker on the strut from manufacture ie (this way up) . Hate to think how many are driving with them the wrong way round.
ShawUK
I need to fix mine! I thought mine were fine when I got it... Until 20 seconds later and it slams on your head. Where did you purchase your struts from?
valy
it confused me because the previous OEM ones were this way and presumed that is the correct way...it does also works like this and it closes fine but noticed the boot is not that easy to lift.....
