fishfire
After coming from a focus RS, I've found the suspension on the Zed a bit wallowy in the bends, especially when approaching said bends in an enthusiastic manner I just want to sharpen/stiffen up the suspension a bit and want to know if a spot of lowering springs will do the trick? I've done a search and it looks like most are just going for the lowered looks more than anything.
Jetpilot
Better anti rollbars are more effective than stiffer springs. Edited March 26, 2016 by Jetpilot
fishfire
Better anti rollbars are more effective than stiffer springs. Tbh it doesn't roll too badly on the standard ARBs (which may be uprated at a later date) but the oem spring/damper set up is quite soft and feels and performs like it's been set up more with comfort in mind than turning ability. It's OK up to a point, then it goes all boing-weave-wobble-boing round the bends lol
Jetpilot
A stiffer spring on its own does nothing much more than make the ride harsh, as you suggest, they are mainly for asthetics. If you want to improve the handling you need a shock and spring combo that work together, you need increased dampening to compliment the stiffer spring, but you will notice a marked difference by changing the anti roll bars, speaking from experience of doing both.
davey_83
Plus also remember the 350z has 45 profile tyres, which all go towards a softer ride compared to the Focus RS. If you happy with the current right height, i would opt for stiffer side walled tyres (when the time comes) and/or swap out the ARB's for uprated ones or at least uprated ARB bushes. fishfire
Ah thanks for the input. So ideally I'd be looking at coilovers. Looking at the Bilsteins and uprated spring cost, not much more pennies would see a reasonable set of coilies. What's the standard ARB size and what's a recommended upgrade? I'd normally look at powerflex for poly bushes but they don't seem to do them for the 350.
davey_83
Ideally yes coilovers either Meister's or Bc's http://www.350z-uk.c...e__hl__meisterr http://www.h-dev.co....products_id=879 SuperPro for the bushes if doing that mod alone. http://www.h-dev.co....oducts_id=25452 http://www.h-dev.co....oducts_id=25456 uprated ARB's http://cougarstore.c...&products_id=49 Edited March 26, 2016 by davey_83

Wingchun8
Just some advice needed on the subject of coil overs for a 350Z.If the rear coil over shock has a fixed spring attached to it, does this replace the lower arm spring or would the car have two springs when fitted? i.e.the fixed coil over spring and lower control arm spring. Also, if the both are fitted will I need a rear shock adjuster(which fits on top of the lower arm spring) to adjust the ride vehicles ride height? davey_83
The springs will be separate to the damper, unlike the fronts
