supermondo
Hi, I'm looking to buy a 350z and my budget is about 5k, which puts a lot of high milage cars in my price range. How reliable are these engines?, how many zed engines fail? I've seen some lovely cars that have 120k+ on them, and some pretty tatty ones with less than 70k. My budget means I've got to compromise somewhere. What do you guys think?
coldel
Engines are pretty solid if looked after, but thats the chance you run, find a high miler on a forum with a build thread might give you some confidence?

Jetpilot
You could definitely find one for 5k, but there are many things to consider besides the engine, £400+ for tyres, £500+ for brakes, £800 clutch, all consumables so be aware of general costs to keep one on the road. The engines are pretty bombproof but as with anything it all depends how it has been cared for.
supermondo
Thanks guys, I seem to be seeing quite a few with recent engine rebuilds at around 100k miles which concerns me a little. I was under the impression a well serviced one could do double that?
