chreewebb
I've got a 2004 manual 350z on 40k miles and got a few noises coming from the gearbox. When the car is idling I get the clutch chatter (the odd quiet clunk) which I've told is normal. When I am in gear but holding off the accelerator there's a sort of whining noise which again I've gathered is normal? Also my gearbox can be loud at times especially into second (sometimes when very cold can be hard to get into second). However I went for a drive out today and after giving her some it all seemed to go a bit down hill. Once getting home I realised there's a new sound appeared.. Happens when I pull off in first and as I hit the bite point and I pull away I get two loud clunks. I know the gearboxes on these can be noisy but it just seems too much. I only got the car (my first zed) in November and just want to make sure it's right! I drive her daily and short journeys aswell if that helps diagnose the issue? I do try let the car warm up every time as I know short journeys aren't good for any car. Any help greatly appreciated, thanks in advance!! chreewebb
http://youtu.be/UNK09DEBYkg That's the sound.. It happens when engaging/disengaging the clutch. Sounds like metal on metal. :/
ZMANALEX
Rubbish video, you will have to do much better than that for an informed diagnoses. Best to drop in to a 350Z specialists for there input.

Dave6188
Did you ever get to the bottom of this noise or just learn to live with it ?
