14N
Hi All, I need to buy a new sat nav as mine has gone female and no longer talks to me anymore Yes, I know there are many apps etc that mean I can use my smartphone/iPhone but I'd still like a separate sat nav. Something that's sole purpose is to not get me lost. Used Garmin units before and been happy with their usability; I've never used a TomTom. I'd say budget is upto £80, which seems to get a decent unit nowadays. Has anyone got any recommendations or seen any good deals/offers on a sat nav they'd care to share? Cheers, Ian

Stutopia
I've been using Garmin too, but my unit's old now so wouldn't recommend it against new kit. What I would say though is I know my next one will need to have a capacitive touchscreen, I'm over the old resistive ones. Also I'd want enough storage to have both UK & Europe and US stored and not have to faff about changing over memory cards for trips away. Floydbax
I have a Tom Tom, think it's a 750 or 900 can't remember which - it's pretty good. I'd get one of EBay no second thoughts, there must be loads of people who have upgraded to cars with 'built-in' who are selling off because they no longer need theirs http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/TomTom-Satnav-Go-910-EUROPE-8-35-USA-GPS-RADAR-NEW-20-GB-/222044786051?hash=item33b2e68d83:g:xEEAAOSwv9hW2~Z4 Edit - Like this actually, pretty much right on the money too Edited March 7, 2016 by Floydbax
Mikevv
I got the Garmin Nuvi 2699 - a bit out of your ideal price range, but bloody brilliant. Shows pictures of junctions/turnings and live updates with traffic etc Can be used portrait or landscape style, the screen is almost as good as a smartphone, very responsive and accurate unlike older satnavs Loads of toys like 3d buildings/landmarks ( I turned it off cause I didn't see the point of it ) but yeah have a google, might be worth considering? For the record, I paid £180 for mine back in September last year, so should be a bit cheaper now
Brandon350Z
I still haven't used a better sat Nav than Google maps. (and it's free) it updates in real time and gives clear instructions. The best thing is my Sony Xperia Z3 fits in the cubby hole where the satnav would sit looks almost oem ! Brandon350Z
Would be ideal if Google did their own sat Nav! Sent from my D6603 using Tapatalk
Juggalo
Waze is far better than Tom Tom and Garmin. But they don't have a dedicated unit for it yet.
ZEUS
Ian I thought you had that eBay jobby satnav, is that the one that's just broke? Reason I ask is I've just bought one!
veeg33
I would personally go for a mini tablet rather than a GPS unit. You can use Google map or Waze offline now, just need to download them in advance. But you'll have a full functioning tablet for other stuff like Torque App, games, reading, etc etc....... Some good read here --> http://mashtips.com/...ts-replace-gps/ (American price but gives you an idea about cost, lowest seems to fit your budget, just need to make sure they have car window adaptors before you buy them or design something to fit in the chubby). I remember seeing a member here using Velcro on an elastic strap looped around the chubby door, then added Velcro onto the tablet chasing. Google map or waze offline --> http://mashtips.com/...d-waze-offline/ Found this in Ebay ---> http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/UK-Seller-iRULU-Orange-7-inch-Quad-Core-2-0MP-Android-4-4-KitKat-16GB-Tablet-PC-/131443057724?hash=item1e9a9de43c:g:QdQAAOSw0JpV3XCe Edited March 7, 2016 by veeg33
