A new way to sell your car - direct2dealers.co.uk

Hi All,

I've not posted much since i sold my 350z but I have been involved in creating a new website for selling your car to the trade (www.direct2dealers.co.uk) and as car enthusiasts I thought you might be interested. The website gives an alternative to selling via the current methods of the classifieds, trade-in or using a ‘cash for any car’ service. Here is why it is different to each;

Classifieds – Rather than putting up a phone number and potential buyers getting in touch, when you use direct2dealers the deal is arranged entirely through the website. When you list your car you are asked for all the information car dealers require to value the car and they then make you offers based on this information. Once a deal is agreed you either drop off the car or they collect it. This means that once listed you don’t need to be available to take calls or viewing. It also means avoiding the potentially awkward situation of confirming the buyer has insurance for test drives.

Trade-in – Obviously this is one of the most convenient ways to sell your car, although sometimes the car you’re selling isn’t really of interest to the dealer. direct2dealers gives you the chance to find a garage that does want your car therefore can give you a better price.

‘Cash for any car’ service – Many of these services buy your car and put it straight in to auctions for the trade to buy. direct2dealers does exactly what it says on the tin and gives you the chance to sell direct to the dealers. Reducing the chain cuts costs and this means some of the savings can be passed on to you.

It is free to list your car and view your offers so if you are considering selling it could be worth checking it out.

I’m currently in the Lakes and my internet access is a bit patchy but I’ll do my best to keep checking on this post.

Chris.

I like the concept, always good to have a bigger marketplace when selling a car. I am not so sure selling blind by description and photos isnt going to open up a world of issues for you though, what happens if the trader receives the car and its not as described in his eyes?

Hi Jetpilot,

Your are correct that is a risk but it is one we have tried to mitigate as much as possible in the following ways;

1. Ensuring the listing process asks all the right questions to avoid anything being accidentally missed.

2. Making sure users know that any inaccuracies or ommissions from listings could lead to an offer being withdrawn.

3. Making it as easy as possible to upload photos rather than just descriptions (direct from your phones camera for example).

4. We also have plans for a feedback system on dealers so you can take that in to consideration when comparing offers.

I'm glad you like the concept though we hope it will appeal to those who find selling privately too much hard work or too risky.

I've just added my details and the site worked flawlessly :thumbs:

however, initial valuation is, erm, WAY off the mark (even by WBAC standards) - but lets see what happens

Hi ioneabee,

just seen your listing, you have a very nice 370z. I'm glad the site worked well for you.

The valuation is completely independent to us and is provided by an external supplier. The big players in the valuation market wanted significant money which we struggled to make add up until the volumes increase. We are currently trying a smaller supplier and are carefully reviewing their performance so thank you for the feedback on the valuation on your car.
