Cro
Well i'm back in my old z after a 3 year break, saw it up for sale again and even though I wasn't in the market it was one car I really missed and I was on the plane to go and see it within the week. Unfortunately it wasn't as clean as it was when I had it but it had done very little miles since I had it, still had all my mods and wasn't anything a bit of tlc and time wouldn't fix. My old thread must have been archived or deleted so a new one it is So here is my '06 chilli with 44k on it, XYZ coilovers, 7 series wheels, Nismo s tune system, carbon bonnet struts, custom mats front and boot How it used to be with me: Some of the things need sorted are: crack and chips in the v2 bumper that was fitted, scuff on the rear bumper, boot struts need replaced, carbon bonnet struts need replaced, usual scratches in the door switch trim fixed, all the wheels are scuffed and one has brake dust so caked on the hardest stuff I own didn't even touch it, then a full service of all the fluids, plugs, filters, brakes and pads. Then it'll be back on track Need input though about the front bumper that was fitted, keep the canards or not? And where to mount the plate, the old v1 had a holder fitted which I thought gave a nice position. The plates I've seen on the v2 don't seem to look right in the grill recess. I'd almost prefer it above (below the front badge) but go with a slightly smaller height plate Previous owner didn't even know it had a nismo it was so dirty, got round to that this morning with a good scrub and some acid wheel cleaner. Just needs a good polish now Any ideas what to use on the caked on brake dust though? It's the worst I've ever seen Edited February 28, 2016 by Cro

It's the worst I've ever seen You'll need a fall out remover - Car Chem Revolt or Bilt Hamber Korrosol/Auto-Wheel will make relatively light work of that. GMballistic
Still a great looking Zed Cro but I cannot believe how bad the previous owner let some things get, ...especially the brake dust build up.

Cro
I know, I can't think how long it must have been like that to make it so hard and crusted up. Cheers illogikal1 i'll have a nosey at some of that stuff

parello9
your car was one of the reasons i bought the 7 series wheels! just get them painted as they look like they need it
Cro
So turns out the brake dust is stronger than left over wheatabix that's gone dry after breakfast, nothing was for shifting it. Ultrabrite did sweet fa, went to up it a level and Mr Muscle did a tiny bit, a bottle of Coke did the best out of everything but still a load remained so i'll just have to feel bad leaving it down for a refurb as they are Started collecting bits and pieces to get it serviced up to date and running nicely, still some gearbag oil, diff oil and brake fluid to get and then the bumper off to paint Edited March 31, 2016 by Cro
ilogikal1
Not tried any fallout remover on the wheels then?

Cro
Did the previous owner remove the V1 for the V2? Yes Kyle, I have a suspicion judging by this bumper and its scrapes the v1 succumb to parking and turning cracks/bumps. It was all factory fitted original too which is a little gutting but once I have the canards off and it repainted it should look well

Cro
Well I've been chipping away at little things on the z while I wait for the bmw to sell. Left the wheels up to Cobra customs after some decent reviews and I have to admit, they came out absolutely fantastic, cast your eyes back to the one that was especially caked on with brake dust and absolutely nothing was shifting it Did the oil and filter change and while it was up I may as well have done the belts, look how bad one of them was! Ticking time bomb no doubt Changed the side light bulbs to LEDs left over from xenons I had in the garage from way back to the clio 182 days, looks much better and in no way blue like the camera picks up, matches the xenons well With upgrades on the mind it was time to update the sound system and went for some pioneer goodies finished with a double din, no such luck any of the owners in between me might have upgraded it for me lol, but glad I did it in the end Berks hi flow cats to go in as soon as I pick up a new y pipe, stuff getting underneath and doing it all twice. No doubt i'll be grinding off most of the bolts anyway and the braces could do with coming off, a dip and a paint too Finally the bumper got sent to WJ blair to get repainted, the scrapes and cracks fixed and the holes from fitment of the canards, glad I opted to shave them off, I think it suits it much better Needs a serious clean and the side skirt ends painted from stone chips, roll on the bmw selling so I can get it out

Cro
Wash your mouth out Veilside never going black wheels and handles, every red owner seems to go that route. Silver is much fresher BMW is sold and that's the z out officially on work horse duty, had it out tonight for the first time in 6 months. Just fitted the berks HFC's and a milltek Y pipe, i'm not sold on the hfs's. It almost takes away from the Nismo's character sound, but we'll see in a couple of k and if it's still a little raspy i'll put the standard cats back in Don't know if i've been spoilt by fast cars since owning it last but it just doesn't feel quick at all, thats why I sold it the first time but I can't tell if its as slow as always or something wrong slow. Maybe a rolling road to make sure everything is ok. Ran well out on a run though, and by god does it look good in a car park
