Hayd350
Quick question to any one in the know. Looking to order tyres this aft, after all my calculations i was going to purchase a 255 up front and a 275 rear (9.5j et 22 and 10.5j et 20) After a final check there seems to be a lot of people running a 245 up front on a 9.5? Any one any ideas why, i think the 255's are closer to factory spec and match the 275's better.
Mikevv
I agree with you, also won't 245 be a bit stretched on a 9,5j?? I use this tool to help me figure it out http://www.tyresave.co.uk/tyresize.html I also read somewhere that you should try and keep the two tyres around 20mm difference, not more, as it promotes oversteer I believe? But surely a massive front tyre can also promote understeer, so you gotta find the sweet spot
Grundy
245 up front. 275 rear. 9.5j Front 11j Rear
Hayd350
245 up front. 275 rear. 9.5j Front 11j Rear Is there any reason you went for a 245 up front? apart from the wild offset's of your rims? You run an 11 on the rear so at least with a 275 you achieve a similar stretch to the fronts. Thinking there's no reason i cant go for a 255 on a 9.5 et 22. Grundy
Only reason as they were the largest size I could go without hitting the arch. They will soon be going to 265 front and 295 rear Was just showing you what 245 look on the front. I wouldn't even class 245 on a 9.5 stretch either. Hayd350
245 up front. 275 rear. 9.5j Front 11j Rear Nice to see a fellow leaner too. I've been mocked for years about my driving style. Single arm stretched out to the top of the wheel and a subtle yet mildly gangster lean to the centre of the car. I solute you.
BobbyZ
I have 255/35 on 9.5j et25 19 inch rim at the front, no problems (lowered on Tein S) FYI, I also have a 285/35 at the back on 10.5j, which looks completely square (i.e. the tyre is the same width as the rim), whereas the front does look slightly stretched (MPSS all round BTW). This is pretty useful. Appreciated. Would yo say a 255 and 275 would look better with matching mild stretch? If you run et25 up front i should be ok with et22. I'm lowered on S Techs too. Hayd350
Ordered a 255 / 275 set up. Prefer a straighter wall. Stretch looks great when you're sat on your arse but think the 255 will suit the 17mm tein drop better. We'll see. Cheers for all the input. BobbyZ
Yeah you'll be fine mate - should look great I'm in two minds whether to go 255 / 275 or 265 / 285 next, or keep it same as. I'm tempted to try the 265s on the front, for a bit of extra arch fillage and extra grip at the front (not that I've been short of grip in any way at all). Jetpilot
But surely a massive front tyre can also promote understeer Quite the opposite
