lee1988
Hi, I've recently fitted a invidia Gemini cat back exhaust on my z. I like the tone. Just wondering what else I can do to make it abit louder and I want it to burble more when coming off the accelerator. Big kid I know 😠
coldel
Take the cats out and put in decats
LloydZee
Decats or HFC's?
Jetpilot
Decats for loud, hfcs for a halfway house, from personally choice, hfc's for me, decats were too loud and raspy.

As above, decats are really loud, I found Miltek with HFCs gave a great sound on my Zed. Loud enough whilst trundling along then really came on loud when giving it a bit of throttle. lee1988
looks like hfc's it is ive been told they are a pain to fit on these engines. How true is this?
Jetpilot
Easy from underneath, the only problem maybe seized bolts, be sure to heat up any with a blowtorch if attempting yourself.
coldel
Not true? Get under the car, pull out the cats, put the HFCs in in place?
delz0r
If youve just fitted the gemini then wait a few weeks. It will get a bit louder as it beds in.
LloydZee
Very good point from delzr0r, aftermarket exhausts do get louder over the first month period. If it's anything like my Cobra Non-Res, it'll be loud enough. I would say any more is too loud....if that's a thing haha
lee1988
Its been on afew weeks now, I would have got a non res system. However I was told the Gemini systems don't have the option of resonated or non resonated.
Jetpilot
My hks is very similar in style to the invidia, coupled with hfcs it sounds just right to me, std cats and it was just too faint.
lee1988
Looking at hfc's now. Which are worth getting? Also is it worth changing for racing headers too if its all got to be disconnected to fit the cats?

SHEZZA
I've got the Berk hfc's and there a great combination. I couldn't tell you what difference they make though as I had them fitted at the same time as the exhaust. As for replacing the headers that's quite awkward most who replace them tend to do it when replacing the clutch or when the engine is out. Cats can be replaced without too much hassle, you just need plenty of extension bars to reach the top bolts from the engine bay. blobbish
I'll have a set of cobra hfc's for a very reasonable price. Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk

Bodyboarder81
Just make sure they fit .... As DE won't fit HR / 370 cats / decats .
LloydZee
Just make sure they fit .... As DE won't fit HR / 370 cats / decats . I assumed this was a 370z question?
lee1988
Probably a stupid question but whats DE and HR? Engine models?
LloydZee
Probably a stupid question but whats DE and HR? Engine models? Yeah the 350z engine models are VQ35DE and VQ35HR. DE - 280 DE RevUp - 300 HR - 313 *All powers estimate. The VQ35HR is similar to the VQ37HR (370z engine) with twin intakes and higher revving. lee1988
ok thanks. Found the following on ebay. Guess it would be louder http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Nissan-370-Z-Tube-Replacing-for-Invidia-Gemini-Sport-exhaust-/221710287963?hash=item339ef6845b:g:zoEAAOSw7NNT9Ebe
sipar69
I've run a Stillen exhaust, which is apparently similar volume wise to the Invidia, with and without Cobra HFCs. The difference is quite noticeable. It is much louder on cold start and above 3k rpm, with a really nice growl. Normal cruising is pretty much the same with and without the HFCs.
