cascade88
Can't you wrap them round the strut bar? Saying that mine is stripped so doesn't have the plastics etc.
LewisL
How quickly do you need 1? I have 1 but using it til mid April then having a full cage built so will not need it after that
Jetpilot
Can't you wrap them round the strut bar? Saying that mine is stripped so doesn't have the plastics etc. Sheet metal, not sure i would trust that in an accident.

Saying that mine is stripped so doesn't have the plastics etc. Sheet metal, not sure i would trust that in an accident. When I was searching for harness mounting points I read something along the lines of 'I had the rear strut bar checked for strength in the event of an accident and it turned out it's far stronger than the forces that would go through it from harnesses.' Jetpilot
Sorry buddy, not sure i trust, i had it looked at by someone, without a fair bit more info on who looked at it and how was it tested. There will be/could be a hell of a lot of g's being pulled in the event of a crash.
Ekona
Aliveboy knows his stuff, I'd be happy wrapping harnesses around the rear strut bar too.
Jetpilot
Sure he does, but for £150 or whatever the link above i would prefer something purpose built for the job, as per your comment regards what price you put on your safety. Ekona
Structural part of the car, or bit of tubing knocked up in a shed?
Jetpilot
Bit of sheet metal or structural sound steel tube welded to the floor and utilising seat belt mounting point?
cascade88
See I've started a debate. In my case and what id recommend is mounting them to a cage / harness bar as part of a cage. This is just my immediate solution till cage time. Some of the 'harnesses bar' setups I've seen look weak. ZeppoJeff
Just get one from gc fabrications. Seems the only suitable one on the market just now.
Jetpilot
Just opinions buddy fanny wouldnt drive a road car with a half cage/roll bar, I would, although I bet if you gave him a gt3rs with half cage he wouldnt say no to driving it on the road
Ekona
Because one had been designed properly for that reason! I'd drive any car sans helmet with a cage, half or not, if I was comfortable that my head wouldn't touch it in an accident.
