HR Plugs & Coolant

I've read a lot of threads on here, the manual and did some online searching, but I'm a bit unsure on the correct plugs to get.

 

Was looking at these as I'm happy to spend a bit more if the performance is better.

Has anyone had any experience with these plugs?

 

They has a higher heat range, which translates to being a colder plug and this is better if using wide open throttle for sustained periods of time (whereas a hotter plug with a lower heat range is meant to be better for shorter stop/start driving).

 

Mine is N/A with a few exhaust upgrades, I do a mix of shorter commuting (approx 20mins) and am planning on three or four track days a year. I'm thinking I'd be better to stick with the standard heat range plugs as my driving is a mix of the two extremes of driving (short commute & wide open throttle track days), however if the linked spark plugs offer better performance and the cons are minimal, I think I'd go with them!

 

From what I gather, the oem ones are the denso iridiums and ngk also do iridiums but some people seem to think the denso is a safer bet (from threads on here - all other opinions and experience welcomed!)

 

 

I've not done much research on coolant yet. Anyone have any suggestions on coolant type & where to get?

Re: the coolant ~ personally I'd just go with the OEM Nissan stuff.

+1 on oem coolant unless you fancy going waterless. I'm using Evans powercool in mine.

 

I don't think you want to drop to colder plugs on a relatively standard car. Going colder can lead to increased deposits on the tip of the plug as its no longer operating at the correct temperature.

Thanks for the replies, will stick with the oem coolant and oem spark plug heat range @GMballistic and @OllyB

 

Good shout for the website @chirag1988 , in a previous thread, @350zedd posted,

 

"Always used Denso FXE22HR-11 for the VQ35HR engine

 

However, these plugs have now been superceded by the VFXEH22 which were introduced in 2010.

Have a platinum tip and are part of their Iridium Tough Series.

 

So I guess you can use either, the VFXEH22 being the latest version"

 

So looked up the newer code using the website and the newer version is cheaper and also there's an even cheaper option (the TT) & it's listed as being compatible with both the older and newer codes and as being even more advanced!

Result mate! I didn't know about the newer ones so I just bought the ones I posted but to be honest they're good for 55k miles or 5years so either way can't go wrong!

Ordered Thursday and the plugs from sparkplugs.co.uk & coolant from vospers both arrived today (Sat); great service!

 

Reading a guide on here, it suggested renewing the radiator cap at 30,000 miles and coolant hoses at 60,000 miles - does that sound right?

 

I've had my eye on some new hoses, but wouldn't have thought those or the rad cap would be routine maintenance? (Mine's done 39k)
