I know most people who fit staggered rota wheels of et20, and 9.5 front and 10.5 rear usually go with 245/35/19 and 275/35/19 tyres and seem to clear the arches when lowered.

I was wondering if that would still be the case if I wanted to use 255/35/19 front and 285/35/19 rear?

how low? my mates got 275/35/19 on the back, had them on et20 and now et5 (with spacers) and he's on coilovers down roughly 20mm.
Arches are rolled though.

Camber also plays it's part.

255 front should be ok, he runs a 6mm spacer but just for looks with a 245.

All this being said, 245/275 are a good size and you would be really pushing it to need that extra grip from wider tyres from there.

Pretty sure (not 100% though) that you may need to reduce the profile if you wanted to run that set up so that you don't cause "traction control" issues. Eg: a 30 profile tyre instead.

You could give Mitz@the Cougar Store a PM as he was very helpful when I was choosing my tyre set up. Fyi ~ I went with 245/35/19 front and 275/35/19 ET20.

Yes, 245/35 front and 275/30 rear is pretty close to the optimum rolling radius on 20" wheels, on 19" I'd go for 245/40 and 275/35

Thanks for all the helpful comments my reasoning behind those sizes was simply that going by sites like

It shows that the minimum tyre width for a 9.5 19 inch wheel would be the 245 where as the recommended would be 255.

I was just worried that the minimum size of 245 would be stretched.

Also going by this site

It seems that the difference in diameter between the standard 225/45/18 and your suggestion of 245/35/19 is 6mm where as with 255/35/19 is only 1mm.

But I appreciate the advice given and will now look into the tyre sizes you've given me

have a gander on rimtuck.com, can see how different combinations of widths, tyres and offsets look on zeds. there are about 50 zeds listed running 19" front and rear wheels

It will be and so will a 275 on a 10.5, if you dont want stretch buy 8.5 and 9.5

These are 245/35 on a 19" x 9.5J wheel (my Zed), don't think it is overly stretched

I think it depends on the specific tyre as to how stretched 245/35 and 275/35 would look but I expect they'll look fine regardless. I wouldn't have a problem running 255/35 with 285/35 either but you might be more limited on your tyre choices.

If you're still on the fence then why not buy my awesomely concave 9" and 10" wide wheels then there's no problem.
