-G-
I do a trawl every few days to see what cars are hitting which price-points and found this. http://www.autotrader.co.uk/used-cars/nissan/gt-r/used-nissan-gt-r-3-8-v6-premium-edition-2dr-reading-fpa-201601190214978?atcido=soc-cars-twt001 Cat D with a write up on why the insurance wrote it off - would require following-up on obviously but at that price it's officially the lowest I've seen a GT-R be offered for. Before anyone jumps in reminding me of the pitfalls of buying a sub £40k GT-R, let me save you the hassle of repeating yourself/others and direct you to the last discussion where it was aired fully. http://www.350z-uk.com/topic/104663-what-would-you-buy-for-gtr-money/
Tinyflier
Couple of comments: 1) It won't have SatNav at that age of car, it was Year '10 model (from late 59 plates) before that became standard fitment. Can be retrofitted - approx cost £1,800. Not only gives SatNav but also improved screen resolution and some other software upgrades eg selection of metric or imperial calibration. 2) Litchfield Stage 2 is "only" abut 590bhp not the 620 claimed in ad. Main items to check (apart from the repairs) would be rattling Bellhousing (can be sorted by a Litchfield unit - about £800 fitted) and R-1-R intermittent transmission failure - that is BIG bill time! Def worth considering a look and inspection/drive, David Edited February 16, 2016 by Tinyflier
Zeezeebaba
Only 590bhp that's more than enough for me!!
Payco
That car has been knocking around for ages. I am not sure that an insurance company would declare a £40k car a write off just because the cost of a new set of carbon ceramic brakes is more expensive than declaring it a w/off. Tinyflier
A full quality carbon ceramic brake kit for a GTR is north of £14k so IF they had to be replaced you could easily be looking at close to 1/3rd market value of the car. Reason enough for an Insurer to w/o. What is odd about the ad though is it states these were on the "spec sheet" but not actually fitted to the car. What spec sheet? These are not a factory fit option. Didn't the loss adjustor see what was fitted? David. Edited February 16, 2016 by Tinyflier
docwra
Marshalls had a very early Jap Import in last year for £28K IIRC.
Payco
Wow, that's a lot of money for a brake kit. I thought it was odd that they were on the spec sheet but not on the car.
MJC
Surely it sounds as if they had been on the car when the loss adjuster inspected it, but swapped for the cheaper option now it's been repaired?
Tinyflier
Possibly - might just be a poorly worded advert.
ZMANALEX
Make a good track car: Just upgrade to a stage 4.5 and you will be well sorted. GMballistic
Cat D and it's still too expensive for me. I can afford the brake kit though, ...just, ...with p/xing my old car too.
Jetpilot
Its a shame the exchange rate with Japan is so volatile or we might have started seeing a more steady stream of imports, late last year it was 179 yen to the £, its back down to 160 now, makes quite a difference when your talking a few million yen to buy a r35.
Rock_Steady
Cat D wouldn't put me off if I had the cash burning a hole in my pocket. I'd jump on it like a Hyena on a carcass to check it out of course just to be sure. If the chassis is straight, what's not to like?

Scary how quickly affordable things became unaffordable when your income is based on forex.
Jetpilot
I have no idea why the insurance write off database cant be expanded some what to include the write off report, it would make it so much more transparent. I appreciate the details are included in this instance, but it does leave people feeling very suspicious. When i was buying imports from the docks it was around 180 minimum, was hoping when it hit 179 things might get moving again. grahamc
Id love a track one..... completely stripped and so forth, but its a lot of money to have in a car that is very specific - unless of course you live on track. Still expensive though, but it seems that people want a GTR so badly that they would buy something like that without realising how much its going to cost them.
