RobPhoboS
I was just looking back through some old blog posts and stumbled across this - something I'd not considered before. Which is bigger - the one on the left or right ? Both are mounted on the same 11.5 inch wide wheels. The tyre on the left is a Michelin PS2, 295/30/19. The tyre on the right is a Pirelli PZero, 305/30/19. https://cornerbalance.wordpress.com/2013/11/12/why-stressing-over-tire-size-is-useless/

RobPhoboS
It's a few years old, so I don't know if anything was standardised in that time but it's certainly worth checking their measurements if people are curious.
SHEZZA
When changing my tyres last year from falkens to MPSS the MPSS rears which are 275 are noticeably wider than the falkens were.
coldel
The width is the widest part of the tyre, not the width of the tread pattern, so to me it looks the same (as the tyre on the left has a wider tread than the one on the right but the one on the right where the tyre meet the wheel is pretty wide too, but ultimately both at their widest point are about the same). Also the image is a shocker if you are trying to prove a point, wonky, one tyre further from the camera than the other, not taken straight on etc)
