G1en
When you change the wheels on the Zed or any car for that matter and the new wheels have a larger centre bore do you need to fit a platic/metal hub adaptor or whatever the technical term is? Or are they fine without? If it is recommended where is the best place to purchase and best quality? Apologies if this has been covered before
GMballistic
They're called "spigot rings" (or "centre rings" by some). You will need them yes. As the majority of aftermarket alloy wheels are needed to suit a wide variety of vehicles. The centre bore on the back of aftermarket alloy wheel is always larger so it can be used on many vehicles. As the hub of the vehicle takes the weight of the car on the wheels, a Spigot Ring, or centre rings is needed to centrally mount each wheel perfectly. These are generally made of hard plastic or metal and come in a variety of sizes to fit the majority of applications. Spigot rings are needed to eliminate any wheel wobble, or vibrations that may occur from aftermarket wheels not being mounted centrally onto the vehicles hub. Not using spigot rings is potentially dangerous as the weight of the vehicle will be on the studs/bolts and they could break when driving leading to a wheel coming off! Source with some more info: http://www.ebay.co.uk/gds/Spigot-Rings-Just-What-Are-They-/10000000179072609/g.html When I got new alloys for my Zed they came with everything I needed including spigot rings and I got the package deal from Mitz@the cougar store. Maybe try a PM to him on here to see if he can help. GMballistic
Thanks. Car is booked in with him in a few weeks anyway so will sort then. That's good then. Maybe worth giving him a ring or PM though just to give him a heads up to what you're after as he made need to order parts in. Nobody can stock everything all the time.
