Jblonde002
Hey guys. I have some slight damage on my hood and don't know what to do about it. I've uploaded the pictures to imageshack here: https://imageshack.us/i/pmRHd5F6j and here https://imageshack.us/i/plS0A7ulj Is there anything to treat/mend/rectify this problem (or even better, is it even a problem?). Also - is this a vinyl or fabric top on the 350? I want to treat it but the product I've purchased says "do not use on vinyl". Thanks for any comments/help. Floydbax
They all do that I shouldn't worry too much. Mine is in a way worse state than that. You have to watch for it peeling off to the side of the door windows where it gets even worse. You can get like a silicon sealer or I used wetsuit glue to go in the gaps, looks a bit messy but who cares - the roofs up when it's wet and down most other times Edit: The standard roof is vinyl. Floydbax
To clean the roof I found the best stuff is Hibiscrub, the stuff that surgeons use for 'scrubbing up', you can get it from most pharmacies. Give it a good scrubbing a couple of times with a scrubbing brush and make sure you rinse it off with plenty of warm water. Then I use http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0035FAYKS?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s00 to rewaterproof it. Seems to work well and keeps the dreaded green mould at bay
Jblonde002
I've already purchased this - but it looks to do the same I think. http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B000637SHY/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?qid=1454858817&sr=8-1π=SY200_QL40&keywords=convertible+roof+black&dpPl=1&dpID=41b6KihWOYL&ref=plSrch Thanks for the help though, I'll wait to see if gets worse - six months ago it was only one side and now it's both in exactly the same position. Paul K
The original hood is vinyl I believe. And they all suffer there and the hood pivot points by the doors. Mine was like that but I factored in a replacement hood into the overall running costs and will be getting it done shortly. Unfortunately roadster hoods do not last forever and will need replacing eventually. Often UV damage is what kills them off in the end. I guess they aren't as durable as metal n paint! zxrob
Mine has a very, very slight tare, even less than the one sown I was thinking of using a hot glue gun to hopefully seal it and stop it spreading Rob
Bill Murray
Hello I have similar problems in exactly the same places so wondered if your solutions, wetsuit glue and silicon had worked. I live in Kendal in Cumbria so wondered if anyone can recommend a company that will replace hoods at a reasonable price. Thanks Bill
