SiriusProjects
Hi Guys, Just wanted to ask your opinion on something. Basically, I replaced the OEM steering wheel on my GT4 with a smaller Momo steering wheel. Thing is, I was thinking of selling the OEM steering wheel but I know that there can be an issue when it comes to the MOT as the new steering wheel has no airbag. Luckily the MOT station where I take my car, know me pretty well so it's not a problem. But thinking ahead, if I do sell my zed, would it be worth keeping the original steering wheel and giving it to the new owner, just in case they have a problem with their own MOT station and are required to refit it. What do you think?
ZeppoJeff
You won't fail a mot for having an aftermarket steering wheel unless the airbag light is on
SiriusProjects
So do you think it would be okay to sell the original steering wheel or should I keep it?
AMT
I'd keep it because if you go to punt it later in life (unless you've absoloutley beasted the car full of mods) buyers may be put off with the modded wheel
SiriusProjects
Thanks AMT. Yeah that makes sense.
AMT
Just depends though, if you've highly modded it then by all means get rid of it as whoever buys it will be looking for a modded car anyway but if you've not done too much, even if looked after I know personally I wouldn't buy something with an 'odd' wheel (as such), if you get what I mean. If you don't need to sell it keep it just incase (...but again Z folk like a bit of bling, I hate those who replace for the shiny 'race' knob thing ... some people just love to show off their knob I guess ) Edited January 26, 2016 by AMT
SiriusProjects
Well a large percentage of the mods on my zed are not ones that are really visible. There has been some work under the bonnet and a new exhaust system. But bodywork wise, it's pretty standard. I have had the centre console carbon dipped and had a new headunit fitted, but that's about it for the interior. But I do appreciate that some people would prefer the original steering wheel, so if I keep it, I can at least pass it on to a new owner and they can then decide if they want to put it back on. Juggalo
I'd keep the wheel. The new owner may want it. I know I would. And buying a replacement is expensive. I've walked away from a car with a K&N on because they got rid of the original box. But maybe that's just me Edited January 26, 2016 by Juggalo
