HEADPHONES
Rim friendly Manchester Tyre Services I visited MANCHESTER TYRE SERVICES in Openshaw today. Great family run place. They have 2 tyre machines. The regular Megamount and the all singing all dancing Megamount Smart. The Megamount Smart uses metal free plastic components in contact with the rim. No more worries about marks on your rims come tyre change Just make sure you request the Megamount Smart machine!

SHEZZA
That's always I worry of mine too. Recently had my LMGT4's refurbished so had new tyres fitted by them (JP Alloys in Cannock) at the same time to minimise the risk of damage. One guy actually filmed the other guy whilst he fitted the tyres and wheels to my car. I guess to prove if there was any damage later on it wasn't down to them, good though as I watched as they did it and I've never seen anyone as careful with a set of wheels. Come next tyre change I'll be going back to them for sure. Edited January 7, 2016 by SHEZZA
HEADPHONES
When I had Tyres fitted last year I gave the bloke an extra £20 to take extra care. He was real careful. Especially when breaking the bead with his lever. But where the machine clamped onto the rim you can see a slight mark on the lip like swirls in the lacquer. I just accepted it as one of those things as I couldn't see how he could have avoided it. With the others he reverse mounted the rim on the machine face down on 4 thumb sized plastic chips. I think we were both sweating as he lowered the face down trying to balance it on these Anyway, from now on it looks like a more stress free procedure for both me and the fitter
MrMartinPGrant
there was something very enjoyable about watching that video lol there's been a few times ive got the tyres put on the wheel with it on the machine upside down, so the back face faces up, no lip marks.
