NeilMH
Eddie Stobart wrote to me and formally confirmed they were responsible for the accident. There were 5 panels damaged including 2 doors. Attempts to work out a local but economic repair have fallen on stony ground. Even getting the doors 2nd hand has become a big problem (without buying a whole running car). Have decided to accept their very sensible/reasonable cash offer for it go to salvage and me to buy another one. Off looking at some replacements tomorrow. There aren't that many decent ones left to look at so it's easy in that sense. My insurance company have confirmed that my no claims bonus won't be affected. That's good of them, how generous was the cash offer compared to the value of the car? I guess it's cheaper for them in the long run rather than court time & insurance etc etc. I would say that their offer was almost exactly right for the car and mileage. Today I have bought another one which is 3 years younger, 30,000 less miles on the clock and with more stuff (e.g. electric windows and drivers air bag) and only had to part with £175 net. No V8 - 1.3 auto with a 3 speed box
coldel
3 speed...fantastic! Does it have overdrive? Good to hear you got a decent payout.

Thanks Nope re overdrive - that's the 1.6 Executive Model. As it happens I also have one of those (1993) - a 4 speed with overdrive and another 300cc to play with - that makes a massive difference! Having said that the 1.3 engine is much sweeter than the 1.6.
