Hodaka
I found this thread a little while ago and it definitely helped me. I'm going to go for the Mini 0805. https://dashcamtalk.com/forum/threads/what-to-buy-sticky.10618/
Floydbax
Depends on your budget really. I've had one of these http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B005Q6CJI4?keywords=dashcam&qid=1450640237&ref_=sr_1_3&s=automotive&sr=1-3 very cheap and does the job fine. However i figured I needed a front and rear also so traded up to one of these http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B008ES75ZS?keywords=dashcam&qid=1450640593&ref_=sr_1_49&s=automotive&sr=1-49 Still very good simple to use and equally as 'plug and play. They both come on on the ignition and record on a loop onto a mini SD card. However after my dad was involved in a crash for cash we got him a Blackview http://www.amazon.co.uk/Blackvue-32GB-DR650GW-2CH-Driving-Recorder/dp/B00NYBE7TC/ref=sr_1_6?s=automotive&ie=UTF8&qid=1450640774&sr=1-6&keywords=dashcam+blackvue way more expensive but very discrete and loads of functions. I can recommend all of these
GMballistic
Edited your title snoged as I doubt "canera" would come up for people searching for "camera" (no offence intended). If I was going to get a dash camera then personally I'd try to get the best I could afford, ...can't imagine anything more annoying then actually having a dash cam during a "crash for cash" scam, non-fault crash or similar only to find out the footage isn't good enough quality for a prosecution. Good luck with your hunt.
Hofner
Garmin do a dash cam and satnav combo, not cheap, first i have seen but others will follow https://buy.garmin.com/en-GB/GB/on-the-road/in-car-sat-navs/2015-line/nuvicam-lmt-d/prod168823.html
Richf
I have a Blackvue 400hp in mm 370 and a cheap G1W in my daily as the gps cameras can interfere with dab radio G1W's are £30 in ebay by the time you have bought an SD card and wiring etc its about £40 , for that price we should all have them and my advice would be to get a cheap one and see if you see value in it before spending too much This is a G1w fitted in my daily this is a screen grab from it This is footage from my Blackvue in the

Has
Can vouch for the G1W too. Had mine about 6 months know and it's been great. Just watch out for the fakes. Amazon e-prance I believe have the "genuine" ones. I have a fake G1W from eBay and the difference is very noticeable in the footage.
coldel
Good timing, I am thinking of investing in a camera too. Saw this, is rear view worth it? http://www.amazon.co.uk/Nextbase-In-Car-Digital-Driving-Recorder/dp/B014EW48BQ
yankeesiter
Most cameras that I found offer the same or similar performance. So I would look for one that videoed at a higher speed. There are some that will do 60fps and are worth having for picture quality if that is important to you.
coldel
Thing I am most concerned with is when my car gets hit whilst I am not in it. What cameras should I be looked for? Parking in London is fraught with scrapes etc would be great to catch them in the act...
Has
You'll want one with a built in battery then. I know mine has a feature that turns itself on and records about 30 seconds if it detects movement. It's not the best feature tbh... Especially if you have a cat that likes to walk past the car a million times a day!
ZEUS
That's the problem with cats, they've nothing better to do.
JetSet
Caroline bought me one of these for Christmas. http://www.racshop.co.uk/sat-navs-tech/dash-cam/product/rac-02-dash-cam.html She bought it on the strength of the reviews. I've yet to fit it as the weather has been foul but I've charged it up and had a play around with it and it looks very good. Anyone have any tips on the best/neatest way of wiring it up? ZMANALEX
Good timing, I am thinking of investing in a camera too. Saw this, is rear view worth it? http://www.amazon.co...r/dp/B014EW48BQ This is only 720 and you can not fit discretely up behind the rear view mirror as you will not get a clear shot with the rear cam, so preferred positioning will be compromised. Sargara
My wife picked me up a Mini 0805 for Christmas, I fitted it yesterday. http://dashboardcame....com/mini-0805/ £56 from eBay aparently: http://www.ebay.co.u...cwAAOSwWnFV-hhP It seems value for money wise, to be amazing given its specifications. I've mounted it behind the rear view mirror at the top of the window and ran the cigarette charge cable provided along the roof, down the drivers side A pillar and along the floor behind my seat to the socket behind me near the sub.
