Paid about £470 for it, 18 months old with 12k on the clock. Water pump failed shortly after getting it but that was done under warranty. Later on I had a Sunbeam Stiletto the twin carbed version of the Californian. Pete

-G-
2000 7th Generation Celica VVti. Owned by the Valet of the garage I use from new & wasn't a spot of rust on her at 41k on the clock. Cost me £4000 with a set of Kahn RSCs on Kuhmos thrown in - still own it as the Girlfriend uses it as her daily. I sob a little inside when it comes to cleaning it. veilside z
Mine was an automatic Mini purchased from the local auction house, bright orange and I fitted the obvious items available in the late 70s being tiny chunky steering wheel, arch extensions and wide wheels. It was so much fun, great times was had in that, At 50-60 was a bit hairy though especially on the country roads. I think we all hold a special place for our first ride. terry06
Paid £900 for my first car, a Phase 1 facelift Saxo VTR in 2008. I was 16 at the time so it had to sit on the drive for about 6 months before I could drive the thing! All the kids at school thought it was cool though It was a brilliant little car and felt like a rocket ship compared to all of mates fiesta/clio/corsa with its mighty 1.6 8v pushing a whole 90bhp. Surprisingly I never had to fix a thing on it in my 18 months of ownership (the same can't be said for the other French tins I own/owned). Having borrowed and driven an automatic Mini on the London to Brighton Mini run it would be fair to say that the auto box was not the most sophisticated piece of engineering Having said that I love all the old Minis irrespective. That last sentence is a whole new topic😄 My first car was a mini, cost me £110 from a guy who got banned. He was so drunk he crashed trying to eat a Chinese while he was driving. I hand painted it black, it looked good from about 50ft away, was like tar close up.

davedutch
Mk2 Ford Escort, bought it in Jan '83 for £400 and got 'T' boned that easter in Newquay. Shortest period I owned a vehicle was the Escort's predecessor, a brand new Honda MTX125 which I had for six whole weeks before having a head on with a Triumph TR7. Neither accident was my fault but it was a period of financial pain and a step learning curve.
