nissanman312
Hi guys the fumes in my cabin are getting very strong is this a trait of decats Or should I be looking at exhaust leaks? My freinds run them and don't struggle with this
Richf
You need to check for leaks , you shouldnt smell anything in the cabin
Bodyboarder81
I do mate with mine ..... If you drive normally you don't notice it . Seems to smell a tad more when you're booting it . After the catch cans it vents to atmosphere so you will get a smell from that as well . I have 0 leaks in my exhaust system .

Bodyboarder81
Mine has always done this since the decats being fitted . So if yours hasn't then I guess it suggest that's something's changed ?

Bodyboarder81
I never smell anything with mine not in the cabin Do you run a catch can ? And are you also supercharged ?
Richf
No but if you have a vent to air catch can then it will smell. Not supercharged but that shouldnt make any difference , exhaust fumes in the cabin is something that needs looking at
Tricky-Ricky
Exhaust smells in the cabin are usually due to small leaks in the exhaust manifolds or the joints from manifold to down pipe, never had any smells that where not the result of a leak on any of my cars, turbo or N/A. Also a good idea to rout catch can outlet back to intake or at least pipe to under the car to avoid nasty niffs. GMballistic
This is strong and it's the same smell from the back of the car fuel for sure I know you get a bit of a wif bit this is strong Does it actually smell strongly of petrol though? I had a similar problem with my car at one point, ...I put it down to the De-Cats at first but as it persisted I investigated it further. Turned out I had a fuel leak in my engine bay coming from the FPR (fuel pressure regulator) which was dangerously dropping fuel onto the exhaust pipes/manifolds below. I fixed it by having a new pipe made for the FPR as the old one had developed a hairline crack which was the cause of the fuel leak. Very dangerous but luckily I found the leak.

GMballistic
No probs & just thought it was worth mentioning just in case. Keep us all informed if you get to the bottom of it if you can.
Toon Chris
Have you taken off any heat shielding? Maybe its getting very hot and melting the underseal in places? That really whiffs.
veilside z
Do you still get it if you turn the heater control to the Fresh option, opposed to Re circulate mode?
nissanman312
Yeah get it worse on fresh But not with ac on I know you get fumes with de cat but unless there's a leaking joint it should be making its way out the back you would of thought
dajw
Interesting! I've got what I've always thougth is a 'decat smell' with mine too, ever since running the Stillen SC (I had test pipes done at the same time). Smells a bit fruity, particularly at idle/cold start and of course if reversing, so I have put it to just fumes from the back.
nissanman312
Yeah it's just far worse than it was I think it may just be a bit of a leak further up towards the cabin
