Quinster
Mines is (in my opinion) way too much. Put £50 in last Thursday and only done 140 miles, the light's on and flashing countdown already. Am i being tight or is this about normal, it just seems to be drinking the stuff. I'm worried it's not running properly and this is what's causing it. Any advice appreciated. p.s it's BP ultimate (97 Ron) I'm using.
HaydnH
Put your trip computer on MPG and see what it says. It's one of the big silver buttons to the left of the steering wheel, on the side of the gauge pod. I can get anywhere between 7 and 35mpg depending how I'm driving. HiddenWomble
Are you sure the tank is actually empty or could it be the fuel gauge? Mine has a habit or losing the top quarter and the bottom quarter of the gauge. 2 doses of redex with the car sat still on a full tank got it working for a few months. It's since started acting up again so I've got another shot of redex in there now. There is a guide on how to clean the contacts up or just get new or pre loved ones for a more permanent fix
Ekona
Depends, are you driving in town all the time or at 90mph? Fill tank, run to empty, refill and tell us exact miles to the gallon.
spunkehmunkey
I didn't even know that our cars had a flashing light when it was low. I have had mine down to 50 miles in the tank and not seen it xD
HiddenWomble
Both zeds I test drove said 9mpg on the ave readout. Got 32 on the trip home from wales to kent and am getting high 20s through mostly motorway miles. Was getting distance till empty of 280 and then got 380 out of her after the redex. Cost a lot more to fill the tank too as it was actually empty. If it cost you 50 to max the tank from empty then that was way too little fuel. brillomaster
A slightly more scientific approach would help here! don't even need to run to empty... brim the tank, do 100 miles, then brim the tank again. work out the exact mpg from those 100 miles. Also the average mpg readout is pretty accurate, reset it and do a 100 miles or whatever, then see what it says. when I was running a zed I could get 33mpg cruising at 70 on a motorway, and would drop to 27-28mpg average when running door to door going from home to work and back, which was 2miles at 30mph then 18 miles on motorway. I rarely saw less than 25mpg average, though I do very little town driving. Edited November 5, 2015 by brillomaster
Paul K
i got mine to 35mpg on a motorway run, 70mph and using the cruise
Alex350z
Around town i get 20-25 and on the motorway i can get 38 if i try Edited November 5, 2015 by Alex350z
Ekona
Please don't turn another thread into a yet-another list of MPGs that people have obtained
ZMANALEX
Just do a proper mpg fuel test, this £50.00 to 140 miles means absolutely nothing.
nowhereboy
While saying "£50 to 140 miles" isn't the best basis to work off I know I fill up weekly and spend about £45, I'll do about 120 mile each week on that amount. I've never bothered working out what my actual MPG is, it will probably just be depressing anyway
nowhereboy
So yea, it sounds about right to me anyway. It's a thirsty beast the 350.
tpivette
I've found the 40mph average speed cameras I travel through every day at the New forth crossing have increase my average on the trip computer to 33mpg. Seems a shame to have all that oomph and no chance to use it.
The Trouser
My nearly 12yo Zed recently made a 500 mile round trip from Manchester to Devon - average mpg 38.7 Other than that, still usually reading 24 mpg for urban driving. Only ever had two tank-fulls which were not Shell V-Power/Nitro
GizmoGold
I mainly do short drives to work during the week and I'm averaging 24 mpg =) I've found a tank can last 300-350 miles, but I am a bit heavy on the accelerator.
ilogikal1
It depends. If you're paying £50/litre then 140 miles is pretty bloody good. If you're paying 50p/litre, it's pretty bloody bad. Rather than quoting costs, how about using something useful like volume instead.
Manners
I think I need to do the same check, iv found my run to work and back is about 32mpg. But around town it is terrible. Definitely worth resetting everything and starting again. My fuel gauge is a little temperamental too!/
lance350
If you are doing town driving or a lot of stop start that sounds about right, well similar to me anyway I average around 23mpg. I do a 25 mile commute to work everyday and a few miles at the weekends. This will cost me bang on £50 a week.
JetSet
Both zeds I test drove said 9mpg on the ave readout. That would be fairly typical of a Zed that had the battery disconnected then driven around a forecourt or the computer had been reset. AMT
I can put £30 in and easily run it out in two days without going supermental, depends how much accelerating, overtaking and loving the sound of the engine you do... tbh if you do anything over 2K on revs... say bye bye to your fuel. Only way I managed to keep it for any length of time (besides doing a continuous long ass motorway journey) is changing soon at low speeds (which you can do in the Z, plenty torque in all gears except maybe 6th) and keeping it in 6th below 2K at 50mph. brillomaster
I can put £30 in and easily run it out in two days without going supermental thats even more vague than £50 doing 140 miles! I can make £30 last a whole month if i never drive the car, or 30 minutes if im on a trackday!

jaffers
the trip computer isn't anywhere near accurate on mine, 90% of my driving is in town in rush hour and it says 27mpg yet when i work it out its 20mpg! I'm not bothered though, better than driving around in a focus/astra and getting 30+ mpg imo
Quinster
Loads of great replies here, you're right anyway, it was pretty vague. (I knew what i meant) lol It's looking like I'm roughly the same as everyone else, my trip is in litres and kilometres so that seems about right. It,'s mainly urban driving i do daily, just seemed high. Another question... Why is there 2 trips on the speedo? A and B What's that for?
