jamess115
Hi People, Not posted on here for a while & just looking for some advice on getting a 'little' more hp (apart from FI) from the Zed. I purchased a Fujita short ram induction system a while ago and although it sounds nice, its really giving me nothing performance wise. This has not come as a surprise but I do think I was getting more from my original OEM kit before I sold it. Perhaps panel filters are better? Anyway, I think its time for a change - just wondering what others are running on their cars?
ZMANALEX
The DE stock air box 06 up with a proper panel filter is the best to retain power and temp intake. You lose power and gain noise with aftermarket open cone type
Chris Wiltshire
Standard airbox with the velocity stack upgrade and a panel filter such as HKS will be your best bet.
-G-
I asked my Zed-owning friends this when I first got my Z33 - the answer was a unanimous "OEM intake is best" - hence why I haven't changed it.
PPod
Yup same as above standard air box with velocity stack.
Tricky-Ricky
Still makes me chuckle to see this sort of post, IE people fitting so called performance mods and wondering why they don't see any gain on the VQ/HR series, is there not a sticky somewhere outlining what works and whats needed to make mods work? or is it just a case of people not reading it or searching? Paul K
I've only had my /zed a few weeks, and i'm about to hit the button for the velocity stack mod.....decent panel filter will follow at the same time

Ian
Anyone who says they can notice the missing 1 or 2 hp is a liar If you want one get one that makes the best noise, IMO ARC ones make the best noise but they arent cheap
timmy.tuck
I only got my k and n for the noise who cares about 1bhp lose ! You will not get any gains on these engines unless you win the lottery and spend a fortune these cars are for cruising now my friends , modern diesels are faster now !....... HAMLNJ
I love the look and build of th US made R2C system. Although it might sound nice I am sure you loose a little power.
HAMLNJ
When I removed a cheap induction system from mine I did notice a difference in throttle reposnce. Installed a d1 throttle controller but still not quite the same

jamess115
Based on the advice, which I appreciate - I think I will stick with Fujita as changing back to stock is not really going to give me any gains & only cost more money. Cheers all
LDUNKZ18
has anyone fitted a bmc cda enclosed air intake system?
Rook
I have the Takeda short ram (single, DE) which isn't short at all, by the way. Sounds absolutely fantastic under load, an almost American V8 BRRRRRR suddenly emerges from under the bonnet when you push the go pedal. Revs don't even matter, if your foot's down it really bellows. I'm not gunna say I notice any difference with performance, but that's not what I bought it for. The screaming silly noises are half the fun of a car like this, the motor only needs to be *fast enough* that you don't look a plonker while making them IMO. davey_83
When I removed a cheap induction system from mine I did notice a difference in throttle reposnce. Installed a d1 throttle controller but still not quite the same Same, couple weeks ago i removed my hard pipe intake and Simota WAI and noticed a lost in throttle response. im not going to notice 5bhp either way at 6500rpm however thus far on mine, the WAI felt better to drive with and of course sounded amazing. GeorgeW
just popped a simple K&N panel filter in the OEM box, tempted with a cone, as my car isnt built for speed, so the sound outways the power loss Edited February 23, 2016 by GeorgeW
Brandon350Z
Just bought a K&N panel filter a few days ago but now reading this for looks and pure noise. Wish I had saved the £40 and put it towards a pop charger! :'(

Sent from my E6653 using Tapatalk Didn't really think of that, my cobra non res zorst is rather loud when you open it up. I just want to look cool when I open the bonnet haha 😎 A turbo would look and sound better though! 😂
Floydbax
I have one of these: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/311333786958?ssPageName=STRK:MESINDXX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1436.l2649 You'd not tell the difference between this and the JWT/Standard airbox, 'tho I had an Apexi on before, what a POS, I could tell immediately the car was breathing better with the K+N
