ricochet
hello, now we cannot put cars on ramps, what lifts do we recc? jc
Keyser
I recon this is the best option http://www.automotechservices.co.uk/products/as-7330-three-tonne-scissor-lift/
SHEZZA
That'll be ideal in the Zed shed Chris. Just respray it green before you fit it. Haha
ricochet
er.... I was thinking of something smaller, portable and hopefully cheaper. does anyone on hear use/own either hydraulic or mechanical lifts? jc
Ricey
Cheapest portable I've seen in one of the trade catalogues was about 2k. Don't think I'd be too happy scuttling around under one.

jumping350
Ive had a look at this Keysers suggestion is best option really, anything else wont get you enough height for the price so you might aswell get 2 decent trolley jacks this was the other option I was looking at http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CAR-LIFT-MOBILE-SCISSOR-LIFT-GREAT-FOR-HOME-WORK-USE-brand-new-CE-/321773548263?hash=item4aeb32b2e7
Ricey
oh! When you weigh it up mate 2 decent low entry trolley jacks from Costco would cost you about £200 odd. Far easier to store and use.
Ekona
Erm, why can't we put cars on ramps any more then?
ricochet
Portable 'domestic' ramps aren't wide enough for the wheels/tyres.
Ekona
Gotcha. Sorry, I thought you meant they'd been banned or something equally daft, not that your setup won't fit on them
gillywig2
Thought about these. They give a little more height If used tilted. Obviously has to used with the wheels on, so not much good to work on breaks etc.

I have looked at a lot and there are pros and cons to them all.
davedutch
solution for you Chris, as you have made two spaces why not two different lifts - best of both worlds
andy10v
What do you want to do with it? I have a scissor lift, you need ramps on either side, or recess it into the floor to drive low cars over it. It obviously has its limitations, but its still so much nicer/quicker than lifting a car with a jack and axle stands. Lifts the car over a metre off the ground quickly and easily. A nice height to sit on a stool to work on breaks/suspension, also good for body work, engine pulls etc. Exhaust/brake/fuel lines/gearbox are fiddly above the lift, but you can just lift the car up, then lower it onto tall axle stands, or wheels stands, then lie the lift flat. Whilst it is "portable" you will not be zooming it about the place! I would like a flush mount twin scissor lift like Keyser listed, but money and roof height are slight inconveniences at the moment. Richf
http://www.cjautos.eu/product_p/cr02.htm Something like this works , there is a company that makes a type that uses bottle jacks , they are a little cheaper and wider although at 270mm wide they will take a tyre well over 325mm
Jumzo
My brother recently moved into his first home - his garage is pretty epic! Makes life so much easier than dicking around with jacks and axle stands. I find the Z to be particularly hard to get up on jacks for some reason, mine is on aftermarket springs but wouldnt say it was low compared to others.
GMballistic
^^ That's awesome Jumzo. Bet he's chuffed to bits with that set up.

May have to put a good word in for me...could make installing coilovers a whole lot easier 😉
Jumzo
Yeah, he is fairly chuffed although he had to sell his skyline to buy the place! Can do Jeff. It does have one slightly annoying feature which may hinder access out of the garage once the car is lowered but we will need to figure out a way around it at some point anyway so maybe you can be be the guinea pig! ZeppoJeff
Haha...well installation of coilovers can be there and lowering elsewhere
