Far2lively
Looking for some recommendations on a decent induction kit? Thanks Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Ekona
For panel filter, I'd go K&N or Cosworth. For open cone filter, I'd go JWT. No real sense in spending any more, as you're only losing power and sucking in hot air.
Arran
Wouldn't have an open cone on the Z, go for the 06+ airbox and a panel filter. Tried and tested
tommoger
Flyboy is currently selling his '06 air box mod kit, there's a group buy at the moment http://www.350z-uk.com/topic/100520-2006-airbox-modvelocity-stack-new-group-buy/page__st__40

KUGT4
stick with oem box/filter otherwise your; - pulling warm air from the engine bay - pulling parts of the filter into the block as it disintegrates with age (my experience) air filters are disposable/cheap... Would you not even use a performance panel filter then? Surely you would benefit from an uprated panel filter, especially if you are having it mapped? (I personally have no experience with uprated panel filters btw, but have been thinking of upgrading)
Arran
You use the 06 airbox with an uprated panel filter (dry type is best like a hks)

Ekona
Don't talk such twaddle. A decent panel filter is easy on a par with the OEM one in terms of filtration.

Or way better, cost it's always the problem in mass production. You just need to hold the OEM in one hand and an uprated filter in the other hand. Build quality is night and day. Rock_Steady
I've got a Pipercross dry panel air filter with a velocity stacker. As many have said a better upgrade for a pony or two, cone filter for noise.
Oggieteepo
Panel. Cosworth for me.

Ekona
Depends on what you want to achieve though, doesn't it? I know I lost power with the JWT, but the extra noise was far more important to me than 1-2bhp I'd never feel.
mdunbar
Interesting discussion. My car came with a cone filter on it. Should I revert back to a panel filter before getting the car remapped (next thing on my list)?
Ekona
Depends, do you want 2bhp or a better noise?
mdunbar
I'm more interested in the health of the motor than either of those things
