ZeppoJeff
Planning on getting new alloys and what I have found is 18" 9j front and 18" 10j rear. What would people suggest ideal tyre size for these? The wheels sit as the original rays do with spaces installed so no need for stretch. Any help would be nice (Please be nice ekona)

Ekona
235/40 and 265/35 would be my choices, no stretch and sensible sizes too. What tyres are you planning on running, if possible?
ZeppoJeff
If I can get mpss I will
Ekona
Sadly I don't think they're available in the first size, might have to go 45 profile.
ZeppoJeff
Seems u don't get mpss in those sizes though
Ekona
How close can you get? I'm too lazy to look at the Michelin site Edited September 7, 2015 by Ekona
ZeppoJeff
I can get if I get 45 and a
ZeppoJeff
I thought 245 was the minimum for a 9" though

Ekona
Bobbins. It's down to the manufacturer to decide. Michelin don't actually publish theirs, but as a rule I use Toyo and their R888 as that's a solid control tyre. Also happens that you can see the sizes easily on their website
ZeppoJeff
Awesome. So we are saying 235/45 and 265/40?
Ekona
Should be absolutely fine

brillomaster
wont that have problems with the TCS? surely the rears would also need to be a 40 profile to match the fronts, a 35 on the back would be too small a diameter?

Ekona
wont that have problems with the TCS? surely the rears would also need to be a 40 profile to match the fronts, a 35 on the back would be too small a diameter? Looks like 2% between the two tyres (fronts -1%, rears +1%) so TCS should be fine. We are going 40 on the rear But no, no need to match the 45 on the front as we've gone for a 30mm width stagger rather than OEM 20mm. brillomaster
I'm still not convinced... difference in rolling radius between a 225/45 and a 245/45 is -2.66%. The difference between a 235/45 and a 265/40 is only -0.07%... so you'd get TCS issues surely... whats wrong with 255/40 and 275/40? would sit nicely on 9" and 10" rims, keep the stagger, keep the same rolling radius to the original sizes? Ekona
Eh? We're using 235/45 and 265/40?
brillomaster
as stated in post #13?
mouthwash
Why are you suggesting different profiles on the front and back? That's going to look weird as funk. 245/40 and 265/40 would be fine in my non expert opinion but **** Ekona. Ekona
Why are you suggesting different profiles on the front and back? That's going to look weird as funk. Why? OEM tyres have different height sidewalls anyway. If anything, those sizes will be equal (well, 0.25 of a mm!).
