HAMLNJ
Hi, Travelled to the MotoGP in the zed, close the event I went to move off from a set of lights in third my accident. car stalled, no worries...I'll just turn it on again... but it didn't! took 4 attempts to get it going. Car obviously warm, each try didn't even feel like it even cranked the engine over. 5th time it sprung back into life like normal. What could of this been? race was brilliant albeit very wet! Thanks Ian
hensh65
Sorry to state the obvious but in the panic of stalling is it possible that the clutch wasn't fully pressed on the first few attempts to turn it over?
HAMLNJ
no, it was depressed, the key does nothing with the clutch depressed, the starter motor did kick in. just very short.
gillywig2
How old is the battery? Are the terminal clamps tight? Rossi did well, I expect Crutchlow gave his teammate an earful!
Jp606
I'm sure mine did this once when I first got it, refused to start once or twice after stalling, never did it again.
GreenLandy
Mine did this not too long after I bought it. Never thought anything more of it until about 6 motnhs later it did it a couple of times on the way home from work - plugged it in and it was the camshaft sensor - so worth plugging it in and see if any codes are being shown
nowhereboy
Mine has done this a handful of times in the 3 years I've owned it. Mine tends to cut out randomly and go into a slight limp mode then won't start for the first two or three tick overs then starts no problems. Seems to happen about once a year Had it looked at a few times and nobody can find anything wrong. I always just assumed it's a dodgy sensor somewhere or something.

HAMLNJ
worth buying of these? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/KW808-Car-Diagnostic-Code-Scanner-Reader-CAN-OBD2-EOBD-Engine-Reset-Tool-KONNWEI-/151741787316?hash=item235483ecb4
nowhereboy
Pedal dance will bring up any fault codes and you can reset the ecu with it too. To be fair tho unless you fancy sitting at the pedals for half an hour with a stopwatch trying to get the timing of the pedals right (been there done that), it's probably not a bad idea. Is the check engine light on your dash even highlighted?
GreenLandy
Yeah I'd definitely get something like that - I got one from Amazon ad have used it loads of times, very useful.
Jp606
Mine did this not too long after I bought it. Been smooth since. Edited September 2, 2015 by Jp606
HAMLNJ
no dash lights apart from the stupid air bag light. which refuses to turn off even with the key dance! it could well be a cam sensor issue. TBH it needs all its belts changed and i might look into getting the timing done on the car. valves make a little noise on start up for 0.5secs. needs to TLC
