Tom-89
So picked the Z up last night, drives fin eminus a couple of things... sight crunch if I do a quick shift into 6th, no full beam (wtf! new bulbs I hope) and the SLIP light happened on a roundabout, SLIP light flashing on, when I pressed the throttle it just made it worse. didn't seem to be losing traction. did it later on fairly straight road too, no other lights on, just SLIP flashing for maybe 5 seconds with killed throttle response, if I knocked it into neutral for a couple of seconds then went again it would be fine. obviously goes away with TCS off. any ideas?! also...switch next to the petrol release cap, what is it?! thanks! Ardesco
Have a look and see if there is any feathering of the tyres and get your alignment checked. The zeds are low so you'll probably have to go to a specialist, the standard tyre garages won't be able to get their kit on the car (I know this from experience). Don't take it anywhere near somewhere like quick fit, they will try and bodge it and shoe horn their kit on when it doesn't fit. When I first got mine the alignment was way out and I burned through a set of tyres before i realised what the problem was (they had got down to the metal on the inside but looked like new on the outside). I was suffering from the slip light coming on lots because I was driving on just the inside of the tyres and basically had no traction. The car is good at working out if it's going to lose traction or not, if the light is coming on all the time you have a problem that needs to be fixed. Switch for the petrol cap in under the steering wheel near your right knee.
Gudzy
Check the tyres are the correct sizes.
Tom-89
I imagine the alignment is miles out, it's been lowered at the rear but not the front (soon to be squared up on Teins) so will get it checked, also just had a new set of rubber so can't see any wear. tyre sizes (offthe top of my head) 235/40/19 front, 275/35/19 rears thanks! oh switch is the one next to petrol cap switch. possibly fog light...? assuming fog light bulb is gone
jumping350
Welcome, im in Surrey to! yes that is fog light switch, it will be on rear of car on right hand side, if no light then bulb is probably gone
Gudzy
Fronts tyres are a profile size to big if that is the case, which can cause issues with traction control... 245/35/19 is the usually recommended sizes for the front tyres for 19" wheels. ZMANALEX
Did you not notice these issues on your test drive ? Faults are always a great price negotiating tool.
Tom-89
checked tyre sizes and they were as I initially put. profile being 40 on the front and 35 on the back. can't imagine the mismatched suspension helps either... It did crunch once going into 6th but not again so assumed I'd just been sloppy with the shifting. If I think about what I'm doing it doesn't do it, just on quick shifts! And unfortunately no SLIP light appeared when I was test driving. Going to level the car out on matching springs and then go from there. It seems when it kicks in I can come off everything and it takes a couple of seconds to sort itself out, if I get straight back on the pedal it flashes up again - the simple answer to this is turn the TCS off.... Tom-89
oh and full beam seems to the relay. if I take it out and replace it they'll work for a bit and then stop. new relay needed i think!
