d95gas
Got to be worth a shot, would be useful if you could gather some more results from other similar year GT-R's just in case....... its not as if its a cheap Micra..... This is supposed to be their flagship so you would of thought it would have a decent covering.

GMballistic
All I can think reading this is that I wish I had a GTR... Good luck with the "Motor Codes" CTSI. Definitely going to be interesting to see how it all pans out Adrian.
sipar69
Perhaps the best angle of attack is that if the paint on newer GTRs is thicker there is an implied admission that earlier cars had insufficienly thick paint.
WINKJ
Perhaps the best angle of attack is that if the paint on newer GTRs is thicker there is an implied admission that earlier cars had insufficienly thick paint. Good luck with that To be honest this is the kind of thing that puts me off buying s GTR, no matter how expensive the car, you're always at the mercy of Nissan customer service .... Which in my experience is shocking. Hope it gets sorted in the end. However I wouldn't hold my breath!
gsexr
Seems to be a common theme with you buying cars and wanting work carried out under warranty............. Be interesting to see how this one pans out

Bodyboarder81
The paint on my zed was ridiculously thin ...... I was told this is pretty standard for Nissan unfortunately ( not by Nissan but by Tim at envy Valeting , who reads a lot of paint thicknesses ) If there isn't actually anything wrong with the paint then I think you've not got a great chance of getting anything done imo Even if the paint is thicker on the new gtr's , this isn't a case really . Same as the gaskets on the older 70's Edited April 2, 2016 by Bodyboarder81
sipar69
I agree there's not much chance but worth a try. I tried to get the bumper of my first white 370 repainted under warranty because it was badly mismatched to the body (common issue with early storm white cars). Got told no dice and later discovered it had been done for other owners of some Zs and GTRs.
Bodyboarder81
Its one thing wanting a bumper resprayed and a full respray though !!
Adrian@TORQEN
I've asked that the already approved work on the doors and boot bulkhead to be carried out and for a courtesy car (which apparently will be sorted on Monday) while the car is being sorted. Meanwhile I started a case with Motor Codes after speaking to them yesterday and also asked Nissan GB to provide me the tech specs for the paint in 2010 vs 2011 models. sipar69
I'd be interested to know if they get the match right. Storm white is difficult to match due to being a three stage pearl finish. When I got a very small scratch on my bumper I ended up getting the whole bumper re-sprayed because it proved impossible for the (very good) body shop to get a prefect match any other way. Adrian@TORQEN
Hopefully not so I can have even more reasons to complain
Adrian@TORQEN
Picked up the car on Friday after a series of events. Although not a full respray, the paint job it's fine, so the car is now rust free. Yesterday evening I called Tom and we went out for a quick drive, not before stopping for some pics

Adrian@TORQEN
Little update on this thread, while I'm still keeping the car unmodified! New MPSS tyres went on last weekend. Surprisingly a lot of thread left on the Vredesteins after 6000 miles, about 5.5mm all round, but since I had the other tyres sitting in the garage for a few months and impeding trip in two weeks time I thought I just change it now. Today I finally managed to replace the OEM paddle shifters with some longer ones, much better feel and finish in gloss black. The old one looked a bot worn out. Final tweaks on the ARBs and some exhaust gasket to deal with tomorrow and we should be done for a while. Unless something else springs to mind Steering wheel perhaps
